It's a global sport, played and enjoyed on every continent and deserves to be spread around the world as long as there are hosts who can handle the logistics of holding a tournament of this magnitude. I wouldn't want the tournament in Yemen or Sudan, but Qatar has the security and resources to handle the event.
It wouldn't be the ideal place for alcohol-drinking tourists, but I wouldn't be surprised if drinking laws were changed if Qatar were named hosts. The country is image-conscious and wants to attract tourists and the support of foreign nationals to bolster the non-resource areas of its economy.
While I'm hoping the US wins, objectively speaking, Qatar and the Arab world in general deserve to host the World Cup.
How many of these Arabs venture outside of their countries to go watch a World Cup elsewhere.
I dont know for sure but I would say very little, FIFA need to think about the fans when picking the host of a World Cup. South Africa was a total disaster, the price of just getting there was beyond a joke, im guessing Qatar isnt cheap either, apparently the hotel rates are extremely high.
Indoor stadiums? Are you serious? That should be a no no from the get go.
Edit - 12 years away though, I could be dead
so hold it there if they want.
