Castillo was injured in practice today and Fabian Johnson has the flu and will likely not play in the first game. Replacements please.

Yikes, sounds like we need to get Lichaj into camp immediately. Even so I don't really see how he can hop a plane and slot into the starting lineup on Friday. Getting Beasley or Torres in might be a little more practical geographically, I don't think anyone really wants to see them at left back either, but we need some sort of depth for the wide positions. Can we get JK to swallow his pride one more time and beg Timmy Chandler to come serve the country he's never lived in? (no).

I guess the logical play with the current roster is to move Cherundolo to left back and start Parkhurt on the right. Should be fine for A&B, but I don't like this trend.

Think Boca at LB is probably more likely, though maybe not with JK as coach. I read somewhere on bigsoccer that Beasley is actually in Miami right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him in. Pretty sure JK is done with Chandler for now.

Roster is like 19 players right now though.

Yeah that makes sense, either Goodsen or Edu can fill in serviceably well at centerback. Without FJ our offensive output from the outside backs will suffer though and I become less excited about playing 3 defensive mids, especially against a team that shouldn't be pressing us much. Can Sacha play wide left?

I mean, he could. Knowing JK I wouldn't be half surprised if Sacha suited up at LB, lol. It's tough to predict what our XI will be against Antigua honestly. He could some really weird stuff.

Thankfully, Antigua is awful. And from what I've seen Guatemala is completely decimated at CB and is playing some guys who should be downright awful as well.

There's always this guy for that LB hole:

If we need a left back we should just call in Sheanon Williams or Kevin Alston at this point. Ridiculous that we don't have anyone else on this continent who could step in, but that's where we are when JK refuses to call in Lichaj.

I woke up in a cold sweat thinking about our left side assuming that the lineup turns out to be

-----------Gomez----------
----------Dempsey---------
-Kljestan--Bradley---Zusi--
---------Williams------------
-Boca-Cameron-Edu-Dolo-

God willing:

--------Gomez--GAM------
-Dempsey-------------Zusi-
------Bradley-Wiliams------
-Boca-Cameron-Edu-Dolo-

Granted Dempsey will float around where he wants, Zusi is a wing player and therefore won't crowd the middle of the field with him. Plus Gomez knows how to play wider and Bradley is smart enough to not leave that part of the field vulnerable.

And **** yeah I brought back the empty bucket. C'est la vie with the 19 players we have healthy.

Is Jones hurt? As always, no idea what Klinsmann has in mind for our lineup, but JJ is (obviously) a much better player than Kljestan. Don't know who GAM is but would like to see Bradley/Jones/DWill in the middle, Dempsey/Zusi on wings, Gomez up top. (Whether Dempsey or someone else is nominally the wide player there doesn't really matter to me).

I am pretty sure JJ will not be playing tonight. US Soccer hasn't exactly been forthcoming with information, but I think JJ is out for tonights game but should be good to go for Guatemala. Could be wrong either way though.

Looks like EJ gets the nod over Kljestan in a rather offensively oriented 4-3-3. I'll be curious to see how the front 3 sort out spacing and work off of each other.

Howard; Cherundolo, Goodson, Cameron, Bocanegra (c); Zusi, Williams, Bradley, E. Johnson; Dempsey, Gomez

It's only on the English version of beIn Sports, which isn't carried by Comcast. Apparently the Spanish version, which comcast does have, will show a tape delay rebroadcast at 2am.

Bigsoccer has a thread with some info on swimming and rivers and other such water related activities.

Yeah it's kind of annoying when ussoccer has been advertising that the game will be on beIN but neglect to mention that its only the English version. I upgraded to the comcast sports package because I assumed I would get games like this.

The fact I can't get content I want legally is so much ****ing fail, especially when I pay way too much a month for it

does anyone have info on how much more al-jazeera/beIN paid for the package than abc/espn did? I'd be interested to see how much they paid for it
