It's not rational, it's not right, but it isn't exactly surprising either. He probably needs some help right now recovering mentally on top of the rehab.

That still sounds awful. How is his team mate so grossly unaware about what happened to Davies last year?

Jones' long ball service has been impressive. Would have loved to have that against Ghana.

Both goals we allowed were the result of terrible clearances. I blame playing 2 CBs who really have no business being out there: Gooch because he's clearly not ready still since he gets no time at Milan and Edu who is only an experiment in the back line. I'm not worried about those goals at all, to be honest.

Things I liked:
-New formation! Didn't go great considering they've never run a 4-2-3-1 before, but glad to see experimentation.
-Stuart Holden going 90, putting in dangerous balls, and continuing to look like a big piece for the future.
-Benny Feilhaber looking good when he had the ball (not often)
-Jermaine Jones fitting in well out there
-Dolo...UNBELIEVABLE. Can we freeze him in time for 4 years?

Things I didn't:
-Gooch still looks bad. That missed clearance for the first goal was TERRIBLE
-Way too few subs, and bad ones. Bedoya is not an international. Lichaj deserved a cap. Get me some GAM.
-Still not 100% sold with Jozy's lone-striker abilities.

Boca being our best defender is scary...seriously something that needs to be addressed...

WTF bob?...this isn't the world cup anymore...1 sub? Is this a joke?

Yeah, it doesn't look like Edu's the answer at CB. He's a good player, it's too bad that he's going to be stuck behind MB and Jones for the next 4 years.

Pretty sure Omar Gonzalez is going to be replacing Boca before long.

I think Edu still finds plenty of time. He's playing better at Rangers right now than either Jones or Bradley are at their clubs, and I imagine he'll be doing the same in the EPL within 2 years.

If we were to roll out our best possible squad in this 4-2-3-1 setup, I think it would be reasonable to see:

-------------Jozy--------------
-Dempsey---Bradley---Donovan-
------Jones-----------Edu------
-Boca--DeMerit--Goodson--Dolo-

That's where Bradley played at Heerenveen when he was pounding back double-digit goals in a season. He's definitely the best two-way mid we have and this would allow him to get into the attack more.

Also, even though it's better, ugh at that center back pairing going forward. Come on Gonzalez, Ream and Opara! (or Gooch getting healthy)

jones is about to turn 29 and edu is 24, I'm sure that edu isn't going to have a problem finding time

I really like the lineup. I'm very interested to see how Jones/Bradley/Edu all play together. Obviously a lot will depend on Shea and Holden's role as well.

It could be more 4-3-3ish with Edu holding and Jones/Bradley ahead of him on the left and right respectively.

Or it could be 4-2-3-1ish with Jones and Edu holding and Bradley pushing on in the more attacking role.

I guess it's also possible that Jones could be out wide left with Holden more central.

Or, my favorite, it could be 4-3-2-1 like this:

--------------Altidore---------------
---Shea---------------Holden--------
Jones---------Bradley-----------Edu-

Anyway...I'm excited. I'm also thrilled to see Bob trying something other than one big target striker, one fast striker, two defensive midfielders.

Let's see how it goes!

personally that's how I think it would be best. You could play bradley in a sorta pirlo type deeper play maker position with shea and holden forward out on the wings and jozy up top

edit: thinking about it, I do have a hard time seeing where the goals may come from. Jozy is more of a hold up type striker. Hopefully Mwanga steps it up in the next couple of years

Looks like this in the middle so far:

Bradley-----Jones
------Edu-------

But obviously there will be lots of interchanging.

I said 4 possible lineups and it looks like I was wrong with all of them. It's more 4-1-4-1:

----------------Jozy---------------
Shea----MB---------Jones----Holden
---------------Edu-----------------

Which I actually like as it lets Jones and Bradley be themselves...box to box guys instead of strictly defensive midfielders.
