How is Brazil the team that's scored off a set piece in this game?

edit: jfc, wait three seconds to make sure he's onside before trying to defend why don't you

I've think he's responsible for all of them in some way, right?

For a 4-1 loss, it doesn't feel nearly that bad, and really kinda happy overall with the 2nd half.

I know very little about soccer though, so maybe my eyes and the announcers are deceiving me.

How will Gooch look? We really need him to get back to his old self. Well, maybe don't need him to be back, but it would sure help during qualification.

I was hoping that the midfield 5 stayed the same so that's good. That's the part I'm most looking forward to watching.

I hate to be a hater...but I just can't get all that excited about Gomez. I mean, he's a likeable guy, I wish him all the best, and I can even grant that he could come in handy during qualification. I'm just not excited by him. His ceiling is so low compared to the other guys, and he has no possible shot at Brazil 2014, which is why I'm not a huge fan.

It's not like we're spoiled for choice though, so it is what it is.

I hope he scores tonight to shut me up though!
Gooch looked awful and Gomez looked pretty good

Well, 4-1 is lame. Probably could have been as much as like 5-3. Edu was just not very good tonight and Gooch was obviously far worse than I'd have hoped. Kind of feels like Freddy or Sacha would have been better out there than Edu. Or even just Beckerman. Happy with most of the performance though I guess, but need to figure out CB issues soon so we can start integrating new guys and a complete system rather than this system where only 7 or 8 of the guys on the field fit at all with it.

2014 lineup:

----------Jozy---------
Donovan-------Dempsey
--------Holden---------
----Jones---Bradley----
Johnson---?--?---Lichaj

Or well, something like this. Maybe more like Jones at the bottom of that triangle in the middle with Bradley/Stu at higher points.

Who are the question marks? I feel like I can't even bother to predict it right now because it could be so many names.

Only two guys looked especially good for the US tonight. MB and....

We got 17 shots off tonight, 6 on target, and 8 corner kicks. It seems clear we are going to continue to create chances and score, a lot. The only question is if we will be able to find some halfway decent defenders. Maybe JK can find still more sons of US servicemen back in the Fatherland.

Somebody turn Brek into a CB already. Maybe Brek and Cameron can be our CBs.

Is he young enough to stay there two more years and then move to a bigger club?

Brek actually started out last year as a CB for FC Dallas. Only later did they move him to the wing.

USMNT-related transfer goodies

http://www.noshortcorners.com/2012/0...breakfast.html

Not exactly a great secret at this point, but it does from all appearance seem that Terrence Boyd is heading to Rapid Vienna very shortly.

I have learned that Charlie Davies has been ruled outside the plans of the new Sochaux manager, and thus, he is on the market. I've also been informed that he has three clubs showing interest, with at least one of them being an Eredivisie club holding a European cup berth. I'm not sharing everything I have on this scene yet, but trust me, it could get very, very, very interesting.
UPDATE: Not long after posting this, I found a France Football report from last night claiming AZ were one of the Dutch teams checking out Davies. So I quickly hit up Earnie Stewart to see if it was true and he said no dice.

Not for the first time, but Michael Parkhurst has a couple few suitors with his contract soon dwindling down to the final six months. And once again, a fraction of this interest is out of Germany. Still, FC Nordsjælland have no intention of giving him up without a fight and will probably soon initiate extension talks. I would not expect any fast movement here, largely because the Wild Tigers hold a Champions League group phase pass for the fall.

A couple of clubs are reportedly (and I use that word loosely due to its familiarity) super-ready to snap up Brek Shea, Liverpool easily being the heavy link right now. I can emphatically confirm that there are no offers for FC Dallas' Painting Cockatoo(™) and none forthcoming in the foreseeable future.

I'm totally down to see Cameron spend time at CB with Boca or Goodson or Parkhurst or why not Whitebread.
