The US have one ball playing CB and he's not even very good. Honestly Joze is a better option for a game like this instead of Herculez, we need an outlet up top to alleviate some pressure.

honestly, it's way too early to give up on Tim Ream. he does have 2 years to learn how to, you know, defend. even if this isn't his cycle he's go a shot to be a guy back there.

who is giving up on him?

He's not even remotely ready for WC level games. Gooch barely is as well.

US doesn't really have any natural out balls vs. pressure. Long balls get swallowed up by their superior athletes on the back line and the lack of much natural width in the formation tends to force us to play multiple dangerous passes through congested areas to keep possession + transition into attack. Gomez definitely isn't the ideal forward for this formation compared to someone stronger like Jozy or just faster.

the natural instincts of the brazilians defending is pretty awesome to watch even for these younger players. i know dunga was reviled by casual brazilian fan, but he really did morph these guys for the better imo.
