Was the red at the end a 2nd yellow or did he kick the ball at someone?

this is a good question. i think ESPN should've done a better job of showing the abuse the refs received after the whistle. i saw two cops out there trying to protect them. i imagine FIFA could get involved and punish some Venezuelan players.

on another note, FIFA needs to clean up the blatant holding by defenders on corner kicks. FIFA should release a directive stating that this behavior / tactic will no longer be tolerated. also, that they are running their refs through additional training on this issue so proper fouls will be whistled EVERY TIME going forward.

Next game is on Wednesday, starts at 8:30 ET. Not on tv, but it'll again be shown on ESPN3.

I don't think I'd ever sell it due to sentimental value but I own an authentic USMNT Jersey signed by the entire US '10 World Cup team with pictures of me with the team at a hotel to authenticate it etc. Just wondering, not that it'd probably be much, but how much would it be able to be sold for in a nice framing I got for it?

I'll give you four quarters, ten dimes, twenty nickels, and fifty pennies.

Ehh, a long ways off on the Edson stuff.

"30-year-old Buddle - who is understood to have spent a few days with Premier League side Everton upon leaving West Ham - has since signed for German second division outfit Ingolstadt 04."

He was with Ingolstadt for the past year or so, was their leading scorer, and has had a falling out with the head coach so he's asked for the opportunity to explore other options.

Either way, smart move to pass on Edson. Not that he's useless or anything, but he's quite limited and at 30, what's the point? Why not give the opportunity to a younger player with a lot more potential, instead of an already-not-very-good Buddle who is declining? I'm all for Americans abroad getting a fair shake, but this seems like good business by West Ham.

I would post a link but I am on my phone - on www.whufc.com there is an article on our "development" (reserve) teams game earlier today. George John scored, there is some stuff on his performance and some comment from him as well if you are interested.

The Hammers' new loan signing from MLS club FC Dallas swivelled to smash a superb volley high into the net from the returning Matt Taylor's right-wing corner just 17 minutes into his Hammers career.

John was the star of the show, looking calm in possession, strong in the tackle, quick to anticipate danger and generally assured on his first appearance in a claret and blue shirt.
Nice. Just a reserve game of course but sounds like a good start...

Reading the West Ham website for an impartial opinion is a bit like reading Pravda for a look behind the iron curtain, although obviously it all sounds good.

Surprised Bunbury is being given another run and that Benny isn't featured here, but this is still fine with me I guess. Wondo needed to be given the start.
