Was v scared this was Lleget.

It's not though, it's a kid named Michael Hoyos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hoyos) who I've never heard of. Apparently he's been fully down with Argentina for the whole time, so good for him. The way DIEGOOOOOOOO plays everyone that moves I expect he'll be capped before we can put up much of a fight.

Also, this:

The issue came to a tipping point of sorts late last year, when U.S. under-20 national team coach Thomas Rongen returned from the youth World Cup in Egypt a frustrated man. After a successful run two years earlier with players such as Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley and Freddy Adu, the 2009 version of the American under-20s crashed out of the tournament in the first round.

is a little disingenuous considering Freddy and Jozy both could've played for the U-20's in 2009. Obviously the team would've been a little better under those conditions.

Agreed. Don't care where he goes as long as he plays, this isn't a lifetime contract or anything.

Time to start recruiting Andy Najar (that nasty 17 yo outside mid for DCU) for national team duty.

If we had to chose just one, Mwanga or Najar?

And Today I scored my first goal! We won 2-0! I'm on the right path. Must keep working hard, but God is great! Playing 90 felt good! Bless

He has already said that he wants to play for Honduras. Getting him would be a miracle.

There have been reports of both. Up until the most recent article on SBI the word on the street was that he was in touch with the Honduras federation about U-20 activities. Hopefully with the regression to non-committed either way could be a good sign.

Anyone trying to go to the new Meadowlands stadium August 10th vs Brazil.

Sounds too good to be true.. I'ma order a bunch of tickets for my buddies tomorrow theres 2000 left on stubhub.

What's the best way of going about buying about 6-8 tickets. Can I get a cheaper deal on some sites if I buy in a package of 8 or something?

while flipping back and forth between MLS vs Man U and Man City vs America yesterday, I was watching a round table discussion on fox sports latin america with various Argentine analysts talking about an invite extended to the US to play in the next Copa America OR MLS teams invited to play Copa Libertadores/Copa Sudamericana...I flipped back to one of the games but reminded myself to ask itt...anyone have any info on this?

US will not be invited to Copa America. The MLS is not interested in playing Copa Libertadores, they would prefer to stick to the CONCACAF Champions League.

The problem with Copa America is that we won't send our A squad. We take the Gold Cup seriously, so every cycle we'll play the Gold Cup, the Confed Cup (do you see what I did there?), and the World Cup that our A team will play.

The guys need a break and there's no point forcing them to play a bunch of tournaments.

I see no reason we shouldn't take a Copa America invite and bring a team of young players/B team, but I doubt the Copa America organizers would be happy about that, or would keep sending invites.

Same basic problem with Libertadores. MLS teams are spread too thin as it is, there's no way they could take Libertadores seriously.

just curious, if the US doesn't got to Copa America, who usually goes instead?

There is no usually, it varies. In years past it might be Central American teams. I recall that Japan is a strong contender for the next one or may have already been invited.

A quick look at Wikipedia indicates that the only non-CONMEBOL teams who have played in Copa America so far are USA, Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica and Japan.

ah okay, yeah I thought it was something like that. Meh, come on Copa America organizers, US B team is better than Honduras and Costa Rica's A team imo. They probably just don't like the message it sends though since Copa America is a big deal down there.

Yeah I think that's it, they don't want teams coming if they're not going to take it seriously and that's fair enough imo, I don't blame them.
