Enforcers are dying out in hockey and moving on to soccer in Canada.

Mexico's tactics in a competitive match v Canada: bunkering with 5 at the back and only half-heartedly countering. Not something I expected to see in my lifetime.

I wouldn't think mexico would want to spend much time rolling around and laying on the turf tonight. they'll turn into icicles.

They sold 50,000 tickets. I assume some people just are fine losing the $20 and not braving thr3 weather. The roads were also likely really bad so if you were outside the city gl

Panama with 19 shots to El Salvador's 3, they still haven't broken thru yet lol

Edit: They scored a minute after I posted. Now 40 minutes to get the victory, not looking good

Double edit: And there's the 2-1, 2 minutes later. I wish El Salvador were half as good as the thread seems to think they are.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who thought they were any good. Don't impute my moronic soccer takes to anybody else

Also, I still maintain they're not pushovers. Just scored too early tonight of course.

Sitting here rooting for Canada even though Canada winning is by far the worst outcome for the US.

Live standings:

USA 15
Mex 15
Can 14
Pan 14

**** man, wish Panama would go away. They weren't remotely competitive last World Cup. Their ceiling is 1 point in the group stage. At least the others teams can make noise if they get hot (and Mexico is a lock for KO stage historically).

Crépeau's gotta be close to taking over for Borjan, no? He almost single-handedly delivered VWFC to the playoffs, which is an unbelievable feat.

Playing in -8 (-18 F) in Edmonton is pretty funny.

TUDN was saying the Real Feel temp is like -17 C.

This is kinda silly tbh. OK, we get that the freezing cold is your big weapon or whatever, but it's made Davies invisible and he's like 90% of the attack. They could've selected somewhere that is merely cold that still has a usable field for soccer.

Why not play it at BC Place? Davies loves that building and would've god moded plus the place would've been loud and rocking. Makes way more sense imo
