I did sort of lose track of Yedlin as I don't really ever watch the Championship but that's good to hear.

I think he just came back to the Galaxy but not sure how much if at all he'll affect the USMNT mix-up. He was a pretty big part of the last World Cup team but looks to have lost a lot in his last couple appearances. It seems like Kellyn Acosta, 21 year old from FC Dallas, was filling his spot in the last World Cup qualifiers but he has had some consistency issues in the Gold Cup.
Good call, I didn't leave JJ out on purpose, I just forgot about him. I do think he is past it though, tbh, and I'm a huge fan overall. Don't think he has a Russia role. Acosta could well be a guy that plays DCMish type roles moving forward, I wonder if he will be ready in time for this cycle. There's been a lot of hype around him for awhile but doesn't look to be the finished product at the Int'l level yet.

Cameron always an option in there too of course, although he isn't getting any younger either.

Anyway, Gold Cup knockout rounds coming... should be fun to see the A-/B+ teams in some more games that really matter.

Two wild cards for this cycle in the MF, since our guys we trotted out for GC really kind of stunk it up, are Danny Williams and Lynden Gooch. Williams should be fighting for a starting spot if you judge his play in the Championship Playoff Final to mean anything. He was seriously one of the best players in that match and the opposing manager, David Wagner must have thought so because he snapped him up for Huddersfield Town's Premiership squad next year. If he can get consistent starts on that team it would make him the only American MF other than Pulisic to be getting consistent starts in a top flight Euro league. Bradley/Acosta do kind of make him redundant since he's probably best as a 6, but there are certainly a bunch of folks out there who wouldn't mind seeing Bradley hit the bench for a game or two and Williams is the perfect guy for it.

Secondly, Lynden Gooch seems a forgotten man but the dude is younger than Acosta and he's already pushing for a starting spot at Sunderland. It's easy to forget him because that team straight sucked last year and a few injuries lost him his regular spot early in the season which he didn't ever recover. If he can double his appearances to 28 in the Championship now that they've been relegated he probably deserves a look as well. He plays a similar style and position as Bradley as well, so though this cycle may not be his I think he's fixin to be around for a long time.

We win pretty easily tonight even if our defense looks pretty dicey for most of the game, right?

Yes. Zero excuse to lose to Nicaragua at home, even with a bunch of also rans.

Evander Holyfield might vehemently disagree.

I thought Altidore looked good he didn't do that thing where he flops all over the field and had some decent holdup play at times.

Howard is such a beast.

Probably a rookie question, but does Howard or Guzan start at World Cup next year?

Does anyone actually like Guzan? I did like a couple of recent performances from him (finally) but I tend to cringe when he is in the starting lineup.

At game now. 2-0 to u17 in 35. First goal came 30 sec in.

Carleton and Sargent playing. If I am identifying him correctly, holding midfielder Chris Durkin #6 is most impressive
