I mean, trumpet Wondo all you want. I love the guy. He works hard and deserves a look at the final 23. But leave Jozy out of it. FFS this isn't ancient history, it's last summer:

Yea J. Jones looked like he could hit some quality balls forward in that video too, and him at D mid allows Bradley to get forward. I guess that adds an attacking element to a Jozy-Dempsey striker combo.

It'll be interesting to see what pans out over the next games, and in three weeks no less.

Atleti somehow won the Spanish league over Madrid and Barca. In their six games against Barca Messi scored 0 times. Press high, work hard.

So Jozy starts up top as a lone striker, now Clint Dempsey, who isn't a true striker, but more like a perfect attacking mid, is the 'second' forward.

We've now quickly gone down hill from an all out attack (Donovan, Wondo/Johan, Johnson, Dempsy, and Zusi) to just Jozy-Dempsey-Johnson-Zuzi.

One is a complete offensive bonanza, the other is more conservative, and maybe terrible. If Jozy has a shocker, then we're ****ed. We are almost guaranteed not to have a terrible offensive performance with the bonanza lineup.

And we do probably need to score goals to get out of our group. It is probably a losing strategy to try to 'sneak' the group of death. We are in the group of death, we should prepare to go to war, therefore we need firepower, therefore we should consider the offensive bonanza lineup.
Spain, Chile, and Netherlands is the group of death.

haha, stauskas is projected 11th by Ford and was one of the best in the nation running the PNR. He can get his own shot just fine and simply is not just a shooter.

The top 3 of that group is better than the top 3 from G, but there are 4 teams in group G.

Lol group of death because there is 4 teams in the group.

England have a ****ty group, A B and C will also be tougher than G.

4th team is a big big deal.

All this strategy talk is nice but all I care about is indomitable US WIM.

Having a 4th team that is good enough to sneak into the top 2 of the group is a huge deal.

Group A:
Germany & Brazil are pretty even
US & MEX are pretty even
Ghana & Croatia are pretty even
Portugal >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cameroon

Group C has Columbia and that is it. The other 3 teams in C are all worse than the 4 in G.

Please leave. The door is that way.

Agree that having a fourth team that could sneak into the top2 is massive and that is why I'd say C is still harder than G as any of the four could reasonably take the top2 spots.

Ffs there are only two teams in G that could sneak into the top2.

And I'd also disagree about the 3 from C being worse than all from G. Actually think you are overstating things a bit in USAno1 favour obviously.

Greece>>USA and Ghana, would find it hard to disagree with Japan>>USA and Ghana also and you're having a laugh if you think Ivory Coast are any worse.

There's a billion things wrong with just assuming Portugal and Germany both advance 100% of the time, so rather than get into that, I'll just post this.

I've linked THE ENTIRE DAMN GAME, should you feel so inclined!

And there is a billion and one things wrong with just wishful thinking like oh maybe Portugal won't handle the heat (taken for granted that USAno1 obviously will handle the heat) or Ze Germans might rest players (they also might want to crush Jurgen into the ground for old times sake).

Ffs your main striker scored 1 whole premier league goal this season and the rest of the squad is filled with MLS allstars.

Man, I remember watching that game like it was yesterday. I was just a kid who made his mom wake him up at 2 AM. That was the first US game I ever watched and have been hooked since.

Those are your lol reasons? Both of those are complete hypotheticals and in no way is anyone just assuming they are going to happen. However, there is a nonzero chance one or both of them do. **** us for looking at all the angles and ways our national team can get through the group. And who says we will even need those things to get out of the group? We might just beat Ghana and Portugal and that's that.

The reason all 4 teams have a chance to advance is because there are three very mediocre teams and there isn't one top 4 team.

I agree that US & ghana are the one ones that can "sneak" into the top2 since the other 2 teams are pretty elite.

If you would like to do a last longer bet, my group G vs your group C, I am in.

The more I think about it the more I'm seeing Jozy/McBride as a comparison. They're mentally very different but Jozy is still young. Physically they're not all that different and Jozy probably has a bit more technical ability than Brian did. McBride kept getting better throughout his career until his body faltered. If Jozy does the same he'll be

Anybody clamoring for Robbie Findley and Brian Ching to come back?

Lol Croatia, Greece and Japan are very mediocre (2 out of this 3 are clearly more accomplished than either USAno1 or Ghana btw and I'd still fancy Japan to do a job) compared to USAno1 and Ghana.

Piss off.

Stick your last longer bet offer.
