I know some people who have a troubled marriage. It's centered around personality issues, working too hard, not spending enough time with each other etc. NOT physical/emotional abuse.

Because he's a ****ing dickhead who wanted to keep his friend around instead of doing the right thing

So where's the line where you would get involved? What is your threshold for determining that a relationship has turned abusive forcing you to intervene?

Since you are an expert, apparently, and have all the answers, please let me know.

Or is it something that happens to be super complicated, and not so black and white as you would lead me to believe.

I guess everyone posting here wants to feel better about themselves for demanding this guy be fired. But here's the thing, this type of abuse exists all around us. Are you holding yourself to the same standard?

My brother-in-law is abusive. Not physically (that I know of) but definitely emotionally. Does he deserve to lose his job? Should he go to jail? Should I be the one reporting him? Should I call his boss and demand he be fired?

How many times have you seen parents being emotionally abusive to their kids at youth sporting events? Do these people get fired?

The issues of domestic violence, child sexual abuse and sexual assault in general are very complicated. If our legal system hasn't figured out the appropriate way to address them, why should we expect football coaches to come up with the perfect answer?
What the ****

I love the "you're dumb but I can't make any kind of argument to refute you" remarks ITT.

Very nice.

The reason you can't refute my arguments? Because you can't.

people can refute you. they just dont want to engage a piece of **** who thinks enabling a wife beater is ok and that abusers and those that look the other way should have no societal repercussions. like someone said earlier, you arent as smart as you think you are and this isnt ****ing complicated.

How about when someone is accused and being investigated for domestic violence? This isn't a behind closed doors incident, she reported it and Meyer ****ing knew.

-He kept his friend around
-He kept a scandal from erupting around his football team
-He got a X% increase over replacement coordinator who he didn’t know
-*****HE got to bury his head in the sand and not worry about other people’s problems*****

The last one is almost certainly #1. He just didn’t want to deal with this ****. We’ve all made decisions where we didn’t do the right thing because it was hard and was going to cause us stress. It’s not hard to understand his motivation. Most people ITT are saying they would draw the line at some point before Urban. Not to mention the fact that he is legally obligated to report it and a “leader of young men” or whatever.

Never underestimate the desire of anyone to just not have to deal with a problem. To think there has to be some sort of tangible improvements to the team or something for him not to say anything is totally asinine. He’s not some Adam Smith rational actor, he’s just a guy who chose the easy way cause it was easy.

He's going to keep his job. Urban gave them perfect cover by threatening to fight. "Couldn't fire him, would have lost a $40 million lawsuit, remember Jim OBrien?"

jsb can't figure out how Urban possibly could have navigated this minefield. LOL.

Urban probably isn't the most depraved person to ever coach a major college team (lots of competition for that award), but he is surely one of the biggest *******s. That has been readily apparent for two decades.

I think Urban should be fired. He is a career scumbag. It's time. That being said I'm not sure that text message regarding Punta Cana is a clear cut admission. It sounds like he is begging for her back and saying whatever he can to try and fix things. That doesn't mean he didn't choke her or abuse her at other times. It just isn't clear whether he is admitting to the cheating, lying or abusing or all of it.

To be clear I am like 99.9% sure he was physically abusive I just don't see that text message to be some clear cut confession.

And let's be real. This isn't JoePa levels of scumbaggery. It is really bad but the people acting like this is similar in scope to JoePa are ridiculous. It is likely that will never be matched. Allowing a sex predator to **** kids on team trips and in team facilities for 20 years is a little different than this.

That's the position that I hold, and that's why I did that."

Does that even make any sense?
He lied because he thought he could get away with it.

He thought he could get away with it because he hadn't been held accountable for anything in decades.

It is that simple.

How bad of a situation would Saban have to be caught in for Bammer fans not to riot in protest of his potential firing?

Spoiler:
I can't picture one--even with clear and convincing evidence

How do you keep a guy like that around??? He's a ****ing disgrace to humanity. Oh but he recruits well! Just **** off.
