I know everyone is rounding up the torches and pitchforks for this guy's head, and maybe he deserves it.

But I just don't see it. We have a legal system. It exists for a reason. Sure, it may not always work the way we want it to, but maybe we should change the system.

I guess everyone posting here wants to feel better about themselves for demanding this guy be fired. But here's the thing, this type of abuse exists all around us. Are you holding yourself to the same standard?

My brother-in-law is abusive. Not physically (that I know of) but definitely emotionally. Does he deserve to lose his job? Should he go to jail? Should I be the one reporting him? Should I call his boss and demand he be fired?

How many times have you seen parents being emotionally abusive to their kids at youth sporting events? Do these people get fired?

The issues of domestic violence, child sexual abuse and sexual assault in general are very complicated. If our legal system hasn't figured out the appropriate way to address them, why should we expect football coaches to come up with the perfect answer?

Sooooo, if he reported it back in 2015, there’s gotta be a record of it somewhere, right? But he still kept the dude on staff. Wtf. Both urban and osu look worse.

They've already talked about it?

The great part about this is we don't *have* to hold Urban Meyer to OUR standards--we can just hold him to HIS STANDARDS:

That sometimes problems are more complex when you sit down and actually think about them rather than simply have a kneejerk reaction that you assume puts you in a position that is 100 percent correct.

Even if Urban told whoever in 2015:

1. He didn't fire him

2. The University didn't fire him

3. He lied at the press conference

4. Dude only got fired when the wife beating went public, not a good look regardless of other facts

5. LOL Ohio police, who apparently give blanket wife beating immunity to football coaches

Ask yourself this, why did he not fire him? Why did he lie?

Is it because the guy was some kind of genius wide receiver coach who was somehow irreplaceable? Was he that good a coach that the guy was willing to throw away his entire career protecting?

Does that even make any sense?

Or is there another reason, namely that Meyer was put in a crappy position due to the circumstances, and he took the course of action that he thought was best for the people involved.

1) I went to the Dublin (OH) Irish Festival tonight. (Dublin is a suburb outside of Columbus, and where Urban lives.) Small sample of conversations indicates that no one GAF about this.

2) This saga has been interesting for me because I work for a university in OH, and I'm a mandatory reporter. But, before this episode, I thought that the mandated reporting applied to circumstances where a university employee or student was in some way harming some other university employee/student. It didn't occur to me that, for example, if I learned that my colleague was beating up his wife, I'd be legally obligated to report that. So now I'm wondering exactly how far the mandated reporting requirements stretch.

3) Still think Urbz is gone.
