Like gus said he’s trying to treat millionaire grown ass men like theyre 18 year olds in Gainesville which historically is never a strategy that goes well, he spent all offseason lamenting on the free agency process, a week ago he’s out there saying every game is like playing Alabama which was a statement so utterly stupid he should have been fired on the spot for that alone
His determination to run this like a college team isn’t something that’s doomed to fail, it’s something that already has. Gimmick nonsense that works against Vanderbilt wouldn’t even work against the Jets. Yet because of his stubbornness and arrogance he’s going to keep at it rather than make the slightest adjustment. His training camp competitions, the tebow experience, him believing nfl players are spoiled, his players already hate him. His gameplanning is uninspired at best and completely negligent at worst. I’d be genuinely shocked if the Jaguars win even a single game this year
Meanwhile Lawrence will be sitting here probably setting the nfl record for picks in a season and this is far too high profile a hire for the Jaguars to fire after 1 year no matter how bad this goes so year 2 of Lawrence is going to start off with the same imbecile as his coach with not only infinite job security but the assurance that whenever he’s done taking it in the ass in the pros every college not named Alabama will move heaven and earth to make him their next coach
The Jaguars fell ass backwards into the next Luck and Urb is going to turn him into the next david carr
Wow. Are you trying to say you aren't too fond of him?
Don't forget Jimmy Johnson went 1-15 his first year. This will probably be about like that and then the back-to-back Lombardi's a few years later.
NO ... I jest. I'm on record way back saying Lawrence will bust, but that Meyer might be able to help him. I guess that idea is going south.
Off the top of my head Jimmy and Carroll are two of the few who made the transition from college dynasty to pro success. It would be interesting to know what factors make them different. I guess the browbeating guys doesn't play to well at the next level -- Pitino, Saban, Meyer, Calipari, who else? -- but I have trouble seeing utter fail by Meyer. We should do a whole chart or thread on the subject of coaches going to next level. I'm dumb enough to think Meyer will pull some big money line upsets this year if he stays, like Saban did. He can't be stupid at football with his pedigree, can he?
