these are good picks. 1927 stanley cup, not so much.

I do think there is a potential top overall pick still out there.

i got one which i think contains one of the most ungentlemanly sequences of events in history, but im not even sure it'll get picked by anyone else bc its a bit obscure

i plan to take it in rd 2

Round 1 Pick 6

Pete Rose Bowls Over Ray Fosse at Home Plate in the 1970 All-Star Game

In a game known for its long standing commitment to Gentlemanly contact, standing with your fellow player during labour disputes, whizzing beanballs behind a player rather than at their dome, banishing black players to the Negro Leagues for over a century... All of these things are woven into the wonderful fabric which is baseball.

But one man decided, on what should be the pinnacle stage for Gentlemanly conduct, to bypass all of those traditions and put his fellow player in harm's way.

In an inconsequential exhibition game, tied in the bottom of the 12th inning, Pete Rose basically laid a full force blindside hit on Indians Catcher Ray Fosse. Rose scored the winning run, which again, meant absolutely nothing.

As his punishment for being in the way of one of baseball's biggest all-time *******s, Fosse fractured and separated his shoulder, continued playing for a month because lol 1970s medicine, then they found the injury and he was shut down for the year. Although he continued playing for another 8 years, he never regained his swing and was never the same productive player he was early in his career.

Way to go Pete. You ruined a promising young career to score a run that meant as much as "Whose Line is it Anyway" points.

for a sport that's supposed to be a gentleman's game, it sure seems like almost all the best baseball players are ****s

Also running around this morning so will take another oldie and another "goes into crowd" event, with a slightly darker twist:

Ty Cobb goes into stands to severely beat a cripple (1912)

Dude was missing his hands. When the crowd yelled at him how could he hit a man with no hands he said, "I don't care what he's missing!"

Sure the guy was heckling him and sure his teamates egged him on ("Are you just gonna' let him say that?") but it's not like the guy even threw a coke at him (because he had no hands) and it's not like it was a brawl where he *wound up* punching a cripple or something. He went after just that one guy! Plus the accident had happened recently so there were probably bandages and ****.

And, yes, everyone in 1912 was a psychopath--but they were *still* offended by this!

Ty Cobb--you're no gentleman!

No video, obviously: http://www.hardballtimes.com/tht-liv...-up-a-cripple/

Writeup for The Cantona SuperKick

All the players attacking fans of the Malice, with none of the physical confrontation from the fan. He was, however, told to "**** off back to France" after being sent off for kicking at an opposing player -- apparently that was provocation enough to do this:

This was a huge news story at the time -- a headline in the Sun read "The Shame of Cantona: Full story pages 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 22, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47 & 48". Couldn't find a picture of that sadly. Cantona was convicted and originally sentence to two weeks in jail (later commuted to 120 hours of community service), suspended for eight months, and had his captaincy of the French national team revoked (and in fact he never played for them again).

can confirm btw that the cantona kick was a massive massive massive deal at the time and is still the go-to reference over here for players completely losing their marbles (despite (redacted) doing (undrafted) more recently)

this draft is going to be fun in the later rounds when some lesser known but memorable moments of BS get called out

Doing research, I'd say per capita baseball players are by far the biggest dicks

look m8 the team of mcbeef and c-vig clearly has extremely weak depth on their board and are scared of losing out, and i am duty bound to throw my support behind those that inned on time

you can slot in and make two selections immediately after they make their 2nd pick

fits the draft but feels more like something you could have gotten in the later rounds
