The nights aren't as magical in the 1st leg.

From a City perspective why is the draw so bad ?

I'm still processing the news so I'm still working on the narratives that will make 2+2ers extra mad.

If we lose: Modern football is corrupted by money and so on.

If we win: Man City players got scared when they saw the 5times winners badge on our shirt. They would have destroyed any other English team except us because we are awesome.

I like the draw. The QF’s will be meh but the semis with RM, Barca, Bayern and City should be pretty awesome.

I don't think anyone has said the draw is bad for City, it's more that same country draws suck.

A real **** of a draw.

One of the hardest teams, second leg away from home and zero credit if we pull it off.

On the plus side..........

still working that out..

The serious plus side is that we have the away goal advantage in extra time. Also sometimes away teams have dynamics that favor them specially when its all tied.

For instance lets say that after a magical anfield night we win 2-0 and then in the first Half of the game at the Etihad after non magical Lovren defending we are down 2-0. In that scenario if we score they need to score 2 but if they score we only need to score 1 so home teams sometimes panic and dont know whether to go for it or play it safe. Its what happenned to United vs Sevilla.
Also our counter-attack is serious business so that will surely be in the players of City mind if its tight in the 2nd leg.

Of course I think we would have been way more helped by the emotional dynamics that a second leg at Anfield would have brought but its not all gloom and doom.

EDIT: We will get massive credit if we pull it off. If we win this tie then it means we are back in the big time.

the diff country matchups are very rare so in a way its more interesting

would rather watch messi tear lovren 5 new arseholes rather than watch kdb do it again

Yes but you are a neutral, City fans are not neutral. Liverpool is a very decent draw for them. Its not Sevilla or Roma but its still the 3rd best draw they could have hoped for.

Also I think same country CL matchups are underated, the bragging rights involved make it extra special. Owning Mourinho and Chelsea not once but twice on a magical night at Anfield is still one of my fondest memories of the past decade.

for the majority of fans i think its still more 'special anfield european night'-y when its barcelona turning up rather than those blokes from down the M62

same for city fans altho they dont have quite the same ahem passion as liverpool fans

It will be even more special when we face Barcelona in the semis after having the confidence and momentum of beating City.

Since one of the two teams that are better than City are out, if they can't run into the other one so they get knocked out I'd rather they faced someone who solved them for 80 minutes and might have a chance

If any English team can beat City, it's Liverpool.

Interesting draw.

Going to be a very good semi final line up anyway. Barca and Bayern should win. Then it’s a case of picking 2 from 4 good sides.

Wouldn’t judge Juve solely based on that Spurs tie. They weren’t great then but you can be sure they will raise their game a notch for Real Madrid and a shot at revenge. They got walloped in last seasons final and it will have hurt them.
