It's the same at the Emirates and it tilts me out no end. Like you said they've paid the money so they can do what they like but why bother go to the game in the first place if your gonna piss off.

Unforced errors aren't bad luck, they're poor play. Leverkusen were easily the better side.

What are you talking about? There are no US players that would even make the national side in most of Europe or South America, not counting England.

Suarez for example is world class. That kid isn't anywhere close to his level - not yet anyway.

Just because he's a yank playing for a top flight team in a top 3 league doesn't mean he's world class.

I actually though all bookies done that with 5+??

Competitions between bookies is too big for them not too.

My definition of world class isn't nearly as exclusive as KW's but I think at this point, calling Pulisic and Oliver Burke World Class is ridiculous and calling Sanchez World class is still way early. Unless it's trolling, in that case gj

My definition of world class would be any player that would at least contend for a place on a world XI. I think any broader and it's pointless, everyone in the Premier League becomes world class, any narrower and its also pointless, only a small handful of world class players around. So by my definition thinking Pulisic is world class is pretty lol. I don't think USA has ever had a world class player up to this point. USA#1 fans do have a tendency to way overblow how good their team/players are. See Bobbo on altidore for an hilarious example. Starting for Dortmund does not automatically make someone world class. That's insane. Even winning Bundesliga player of the year doesn't...can you imagine if Mkihtaryan was a yank?

I think this definition has some issues.
For example, there isn't one sane person in the world that wouldn't choose Suarez as their striker. This means that guys like Aguero or Lewa aren't real contenders because the spot is already filled.
Just my interpretation of what you wrote. I understand your point, obviously.

Sanches is worth about 2.5 Pogbas at the moment btw. That may or may not be classified as world class. He can not dab thou (yet).

something like 'would not raise all the eyebrows if included in the world xi' seems like a good standard

aguero in the world XI: yeah hes got a fair shout
lewandowski: seems reasonable, might not be my first choice but i can see why someone may think so
lukaku: hmm, not sure hes shown enough yet. maybe in a few years
defoe: obviously not
pulisic: who

Not close to world class, if he is world class the phrase becomes pointless of differentiating rare elite players away from those players that are merely very good.

So you're all saying that Oliver Burkes 5 appearances in a second rate league doesn't make him world class then?

I have them as contenders though. It's hard to define what that means precisely but basically if you have them as a contender and wouldn't be laughed out of the pub then they are probably world class a bit like BAIDS suggests.

yes thats it you nailed it, the laughed out of the pub standard

if putting your bloke in the world xi would get you laughed out of the pub then hes not world class

Had this argument previously over Suarez when he was making his move to Liverpool. Was clear as the nose on my face after watching 5/6 games he was in that bracket but he didn't achieve that status until his 2nd season at Liverpool, 1st season totally disregarded even though he hit the woodwork ~56x.

Jack Wilshere never world class, just thought I'd mention it.

Tbh I suspected Suarez was that good at Ajax and so did a lot of people but they've been burned too many times by the Eredivisie to stick their neck out too far and so definitely would not have mentioned him at the pub.

Make it your World Squad of 23 and its a better definition.

Everyone agrees Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo, Griezemann etc... are all in, and then that 6-8 range for each position becomes the fun discussion.

It's just semantics that isn't really worth discussing.

Take a random player like, let's say shaqiri. He may not be "world class" according to your definition but he's likely a top 30 player at his position, top 150 or so in the world.

Now consider that there is about a billion people who like to play football, if you want to call Shaqiri world class that is more than justified
UEFA Champions League 2016-17 feat. VARDY and HURRIKANE Quote

Not really, no. Picked the wrong example though. Shaqiri has his moments, but he is just so utterly inconsistent and failed at many of his previous clubs exactly for that very reason.

Try again Cina.
