I thought the humidors took care of the mile high advantage, no? We aren't seeing the same ridiculous numbers out of Rockies players we saw in the 90s anyway. Of course the steroid crackdown probably has more to do with that than anything.

Any power hitter that hit .350 elsewhere would've hit .400+ in coors probably.

Barry Bonds, Frank Thomas, Mike Piazza, Manny Ramirez, Albert Belle.

Any of those guys would've probably done it if they played a bunch of years at Coors in their prime. If Bonds had played for the Rockies during his monster run he probably would've done it 4 straight years.

I think .400 is just a matter of time. We've seen .394 from Gwynn and .390 from Brett ffs.

I'd be willing to bet .400 gets hit within the next 50 years.

I always figured it was hyperbole that Coors was that big of an enhancement. That maybe guys hit an extra 5-10 points, 3-5 HRs better there but nothing truly significant.

I don't know how well the Coors advantage has held up over the years, but the career of Todd Helton is a great data point that Coors can be a huge advantage to some players, and not talking 5-10 points BA, 3-5 HRs:

His 162 game average at home for a 17 year career came out to be:
.345 BA/.441 OBP/.607 SLG 1.048 OPS 32 HR/122 RBI

His 162 game average on the road:
.287 BA/.386 OBP/.469 SLG .855 OPS 21 HR/80 RBI

That's a career split of 58 points of BA at home, and 5.5 HR per year. So at home he was better than Manny Ramirez, on the road he was like Derek Jeter. In his career year in 2000 where he hit .372, he hit 27 home runs at home and 15 on the road.

Helton's Home OBP/SLG is almost identical to Bonds career numbers.
