no, the colts went 3-13 that year, those were cumulative stats because his team was always behind (he lead the league in pass attempts that season). Peyton was actually kinda bad his rookie year.
If you actually look at his stats that year, he had a ridic high INT rate and a very low Y/A, ANY/A. On pro football reference you will see it's basically the same as his last season in the league Denver which were by far the worst two seasons of his career. The only two of which he had a lower than 60% comp, and he had 56.7 his rookie year. His comp % his rookie year is Mark Sanchez's career #'s. (all his numbers that season are right around there heh)
(we all laugh at smiff for checking down all the time in here, but his current Y/A, ANY/A are significantly higher than those)
Peyton was bad, RGIII was good yet we constantly anoint people rookie years as well that guy is good or bad, Goff was straight ass year 1, patience guys. Carr was anointed as a god around here year 1.
Darnold is only 21, to insist he will never be good is just plain stupid. Well outside of because he's on the Jets part. Yes, I also think Mayfield is better/will end up better but if you're surprised Darnold is struggling out of the gate, I'm not. Brees/Roeth didn't destroy that Browns defense either.
