This news will last a long time. I imagine there will have to be a court appearance to enter a plea and the judge issuing a ruling. It will be one of the biggest media circuses ever.

He won't be able to drive an entire year either. It is one thing of taking Uber as an option. It is quite another when you don't have a choice.

Sure.

Let's look back in 6 months.

I bet this is more than a fine. Court-ordered treatment program. No driving for a year.

He will lose many endorsements.

He will make a public statement repudiating drinking.

Tour (although confidential) will suspend him but it won't matter because he isn't playing.

The court appearance will be a media circus.

This is rock bottom. He may climb back or just drown.

That's true, I'm sure there are going to be lots of people disappointed in him. My point is that Tiger's image is already that of a deeply flawed individual and a DUI doesn't worsen the perception imo. When has a DUI, in which noone was hurt, ever generated a lasting media response, much less one in the realm of 'biggest media circus ever'?

Well, the only DUI I can recall getting this much attention was Mel Gibson.

How did that turn out for him?

This is the top story everywhere. I have people on FB turning their cover photo to his booking photo.

It isn't just the DUI. It is the picture. Raw and unfiltered. Shocking. I thought it was a fake, photoshopped piece when I first saw it.

This is already a media circus.

You may be right on most of these--there are just too many unknowns at the moment to predict with accuracy.

But this is nowhere near rock bottom. His rock bottom may have been years ago, it may be two years down the road, or it may lie elsewhere. But this is not it.

Way better not to blow. If you refuse all tests it's basically impossible to convict. It's a year suspension but often that gets negotiated out when you plead to reckless op or whatever, also you can still drive to work, for kids, etc. also in Ohio a high test is a mandatory 6 days in jail.

It's a slow news day.

And the Mel Gibson DUI came with a tape of him yelling about Jews lol

Did u not see the NickNolteMugshot.img? This will resonate with the casual's and likely the only thing of Tiger they've seen in years. Public perception has worsened.

I would like to hear an attorney opine. I thought you only did this to avoid something like .25. I think you are automatically guilty and there is no need to try to prove it and get a conviction. You can't get pulled over hundreds of times and get off by refusing to take a test.

The radio ads for DUI lawyers in my area used to advise not blowing. The ad ran something like, "You have already made one mistake. Don't make another one." I haven't heard one more recently than a few years ago, so it may have changed and it undoubtedly varies by state.

Edit: And I think Riverman may be an attorney.

Interesting. If you try this in California they will strap you down and do a forced blood draw after you've refused breathalyzer refused blood, they want their evidence. Oh, and they video it too.

I don't think they can strap you down in California. Texas, I believe so.

Dangerous strategy to refuse. You are guaranteeing some penalty vs. the chance of exoneration.

Hey, at least John Q. Public will learn something.

I wonder if Tiger knew ahead of time if he ever got pulled over to refuse.

Definitely in Florida it is correct not to blow. Yes it's a crime and you lose your license but it's still superior to blowing and failing. You can still get a dui without blowing though, obv.

Why would anyone sneer at that? Seems like common knowledge.

Wasn't there an attorney in TX who never lost a DUI case? Granted I learned this when I was getting my license 23 years ago. He probably lost since then.
