I doubt it even gets to trial. He probably enters a plea deal, pays a fine, maybe has to attend classes and do community service, and everyone moves on.

And the deal will be for some minor charge and not for a DUI. That's what happens for a lot of traffic offenses. Obviously DUI is much more serious than someone with a speeding ticket, but he wasn't drinking or on illegal drugs. Seems like any good attorney (especially one that has a good relationship with the DA) will be able to do this without much trouble.

Tiger has many mirrions and mirrions of dollars on the line in the form of sponsors who are at this moment deciding whether to keep or dump him. The more publicity this incident gets, the harder it will be on any remaining sponsors. He's no dummy and knows this, so he'll plead to whatever is offered, publicly admit regret and a promise to be a better role model etc., and hope it gets marginalized ASAP. Whatever benefit he may have to "clear his name" wouldn't be worth the spotlight to try.

I read or heard somewhere that his PR team was all over Jupiter police yesterday trying to pin down what video they had of the incident and were planning on releasing, particularly since it was rumored that it would be very very bad for Tiger. The mugshot is bad enough, but a video of him being incoherent, unable to stand or walk, or belligerent (which was also rumored) would take it to another level.

It would be totally unsurprising if he's a pill addict a la Michael Jackson (or Prince), given the myriad injuries he's brought upon himself over the years and the ease of access he would have getting what he wants. That is the bigger story here and it may get no play, and it's too bad. He could be to the epidemic of pain pills and heroin which is wrecking the country what Magic was to AIDS in the early 90s, i.e. nobody is too rich or famous to be immune. If true I'm not saying he owes it to the public to speak up - he doesn't owe us anything - but it could make a difference.

You people need to decide whether you want sex-addict Tiger or medicated-yet-asleep-at-the-wheel Tiger. You can't have both.

He originally said that he would take a bet on Tiger doing more than just paying a fine...that he would do community service, etc. This is exactly what you said you would be willing to bet on.

You then quoted a separate quote where he predicted a ton of different things while talking about Tiger hitting rock bottom and acted like those were terms of the bet.

Damn! Tiger still has more endorsement deals (and worth more) than I thought:

Tiger's endorsements

LOL @ his endorsing a back rub. They probably should have picked someone with evidence of improvement.

And I reiterate my opinion that TeamTiger will be in charge of how Tiger pursues his latest embarrassment.

Possible route of defense: TW felt himself getting groggy and confused, pulled over to the side of the road so as not to endanger others, passed out due to the continuing and increasingly powerful effects of the meds, and was there for a prolonged time before being found by LEOs. He is an upstanding citizen for not endangering others and possibly could be considered a hero. It could have happened to any of you on the jury. (I am almost certain he would be entitled to a trial by jury.)

cf: Simpson, O.J. ca 1992

I am also saying that if any citizen had the means to hire an attorney who specializes in DUI/OUI, that they would also have a chance of prevailing. Tiger's resources obviously improve his chances.

I have seen this exact thing happen in my state (not FL) to politicians who were found in worse shape than TW and had not pulled over and run into property. At least one of them more than once. Sad but true.
Possibility for sure. It is a jury of people and only need a couple to like Tiger and believe that story.

The problem is the legal ramifications mean nothing compared to the PR damage. And him winning on a "story" like that will play out horribly in the press that he got off on his "celebrity". Plus, the prosecution will go after him super-hard with the "real" medications he was on, accentuating that he thought he was in LA driving to Orange County, etc.

Except he didn't "pull over to the side of the road". He fell asleep in the middle of the road with his engine running!

The last thing I have ever been is a Tiger defender. But I did read that one of his pill cocktail is Ambien. I took that before and wandered around and did all kinds of weird stuff I didn't remember. So if that's what he's on and you combine that with pain pills, it makes sense given the flat tire, asleep at the wheel, can't pass a field sobriety test details.

It appears (and I am going off news reports again, but this is CNN) he got in some type of car accident.

Front and rear tires were both completely flat. Damage all over car. No wonder his people went to grab the car so quickly.

Story keeps evolving...

Sounds like he went the wrong way over a spike strip at a neighborhood gated entrance if all tires were flat.

This rap is getting harder and harder to beat.

There was damage to the car too.

This wasn't a hero pulling over to the side of the road to get some rest.

Now, if there is a person hurt or another damaged vehicle or even other property...

Lol at acting like it's impossible to get out of a dui here if that's his goal. There are people out there who cause accidents and total cars then blow .2 and still don't end up with a dui on their record.

As a first time offender with a good lawyer if his goal is to get away without a dui on his record he will stand a pretty good chance.

If his record is clean I thought first time people often get some kind of diversion program where they have to go to classes and stuff for a year (maybe one of those in-car breathalyzers too?) and then after that it won't be on his record. Maybe that's only for booze? I suppose causing property damage during it could foul that possibility up as well.

in ohio, first time dui is a misdemeanor that stays on the record forever. you get 3 days in jail or a weekend dui class at a hotel. also a fine. 6 months license suspension with work privileges.

ofc it depends on the state.

for most ppl, it is imperative to do everything possible to avoid a permanent record.

and, fwiw, you can get 2 felonies expunged (but not a dui.) so if you get busted with meth and heroin, that gets expunged. but not the dui.

obv if you are tiger woods or some big shot then it doesnt matter about your record. but if you some regular dude, its much better to be the regular dude without a dui on your record when looking for a job.

I'll try not to politard much here. I've always been more of the mindset that anyone can **** up once, that there should be some stuff you can do (booze classes, can't drive for 6 months or a year, pay your fines, some comm service, etc) to prevent a first DUI from staying with you for life. The people who do it over and over though, **** them, throw it at them. It's odd that it's so different state to state.

You're describing my roommate here lol really wild how he got off.

I mean **** I have a friend who got off because the arresting officer was relieved of his duties before the court date so obviously he couldn't appear.

like............................all the early reports were completely and exactly false, no breathalyzer refusal, blew .00000. why would you guys continue to speculate on rumors?

i mean its not unlikely that he has a pill problem because pharma grade heroin is legal and he's had a ton of back surgeries and has been in a ton of pain. and pharma H is some of the most addictive substances on the planet. there's also not a 0% chance it really was a bad drug interaction or sleepdriving on ambien or something. guys, all will be revealed, just give it time.

I assume the damage to the car probably came while he was driving around loopy?

Him getting in his car and briefly running over a bunch of curbs and medians and **** before eventually passing out and being found on the side of the road seems like an extremely likely scenario given the current story.

He's like Leo in Wolf of Wall Street.
