I might be mis-remembering, but in his police video in Florida didn't he think he was in California?

The black box data didn't say that he was still pushing down on the gas pedal: It said immediately prior to the accident, he never hit his brakes, and wasn't slowing down.

The "never hit the brakes" part is entirely consistent with a driver asleep at the wheel. And the "not slowing down" part seems consistent with a vehicle traveling downhill.

"Due to the steepness of the roadway, a runaway truck escape lane is available just beyond where Woods crashed."

that makes more sense - I was assuming the terrain between where he left the road and hit the tree (hilly, grassy, barriers) would have slowed the car down a lot more if he was basically coasting.

Sux to watch the Masters without Tont in contention

Sad to think we will never see his genius competing in another PGA tournament

You think he's a full-blown junkie?? I favor the combination of speeding and not paying attention and sudden curve ... and he was off the road before he was even looking at it. One second of freeze after that and it's all over. The gas instead of break thing sounded like covering up for him. It happens especially in the aged when parking, but in an emergency when everything in your brain is yelling "brake" and you are in your right mind, its 99.9999 to hit the right pedal.

yes it looks like he has a chemical dependency. as in, if he goes without his pills he will go into withdrawal.

The guy has had so many surgeries and then been on pain killers post-op that it would surprise me more if he didn't have an addiction to pain killers. he doesn't seem like the kind of dude that would seek help for that either.

He really doesn't look that bad. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him play a round of golf next year

I bet he's going to have some serious pain in that leg when he gets older, 65-80 if he makes it that far. And having to stand on it ... ouch. I'm on record saying he'll win again but I sure wouldn't want to bet on it at anywhere near even money. Maybe some quasi-legit event they rule official to break the tie with Snead.

Yeah because he's the first ever athlete to break his leg and come back to play.

He did a bit more than break his leg.

from what i've seen he's still walking with a pretty pronounced limp and a six or seven mile hike four days in a row doesn't appear to be likely for him in the near future.

makes me think of Casey Martin (Tiger's teammate at Stanford) and Casey getting an exemption to use a cart on the PGA tour due to the birth defect that affected his right leg due to poor circulation. Casey broke his right leg in 2019 and ended up having to have it amputated last month.

Yeah he can swing but I don't see him in a tournament for 6 months. I doubt he plays 3 in a row after that

yeah good point on that stupid frickin' flame ... ask his surgeon if he's going to have terrible arthritis in that thing later on, a storm cloud comes and his leg feels like one big throbbing, swollen, inflamed appendage

Ouch hadn't heard the latest on Martin. All the best to him. I was all for letting him use the cart.

That's gotta be the smart, smart money ... but he may be channeling Ben a bit, who came back from the dead almost, and how many times did he win after that? It ain't over. Tiger willl get pain free for a stretch. Can he practice enough to recover his game with the multiple problems in his body now? Smart money: no. But it ain't over. It would be a whole new category of accomplishment even for him. The Hogan thing was a longer shot, for the severity of injury and the less advanced medicine back then. Ben was younger about 10 years. Hogan was double impossible and happened. This one is 1/2 impossible.
