Well it is silly to think all the greatest ever events are happening this week. Some of the greats of the past get so little credit on this board.

BTW for fairness, if a bunch of old guys got together and posted on the "SE old timers board" nothing today would measure up to the glory years in their world either.

That's what you guys haven't figured out, I am balancing factor to it happened today so it's important disease.

So, hypothetical:

Tebow has a crap game, but somehow UF beat Alabama.
Tebow has the game he had against Cincy, but instead it's against Texas in the Championship game.

Do we crown him GOAT?

Nebraska beat 4 top ten teams in 95, pls STFU.

my view is that Frazier was the best leader but not the best player.

Absolutely.

He gets his national title, not sure who gets the Heisman in your scenario (Gerhart one time?), and he breaks VY's BCS bowl record against VY's old team at the same location against a much better defense than Cincinnati's.

Is most accomplished the same thing as greatest? He may be #1 in that case.

If were talking about best or most talented then no. Even if we take into account that running is way more valuable in college football and somewhat worthless in the NFL...the best QB college football has ever seen doesn't get ruled out day 1 at ever playing in the pros at quarterback.

He was surrounded by the most talent in college football maybe his whole four years there. Only USC may have had more outside of QB in a couple of those years.

I agree, you are, in your current form, good for the forum imo.

You are correct! It is not that silly. It's the recency effect in full bloom, which in psychology, is a cognitive bias that results from disproportionate salience of recent stimuli or observations. Many people fall hook, line and sinker and it's all to common around here.

Unlike many other around here you are smart enough to understand this even tho you would never post agreeing with me.

Happy New Year! Good to see you posting in SE again.

Think of what else could contribue to it besides cognitive bias.

I guess you could quibble but what is the alternative? Greatest is certainly closer to best than it is to "most important" or something.

Technically I guess "best" is the extreme form of good while "great" is an extreme form of large. I suppose you could argue that this implies some aspect of important but I dunno.

Only two teams moved the ball decently on Michigan's defense all year, and they were both fast QB offenses (Wisconsin and Ohio State when Cooper put in the black QB). Nebraska's option offense was light years ahead of both those squads, and Frost was a much better QB than the QB's Michigan faced vs Wis and tOSU, so Nebraska would've put points on the board.

Michigan's offense, on the other hand, was very pedestrian. Certainly not as good as Tennessee's offense, and Nebraska slaughtered that offense. So I don't see how the hell Michigan would move the ball against Nebraska's D, but I know Nebraska would move the ball against us.

In short, I think Michigan is lucky they didn't have a national championship game format that year.

If Michael Vick was on Tebow's Florida team the last four years, I think he would have more heismans and more titles.
