I must have missed this before. Interesting, considering from p1 of this thread...

Hey guys,

I have no issue with whoever outed me. I wish it would have not been done on a gimmick account, or at least had given me an opportunity to make this right before the pool ended, but I ****ed up here and that's that. As I mentioned earlier, outing me will not effect you getting paid in the manner I laid out at a minimum.
Dude's a near mortal lock not to pay this back.

Before anyone does anything publicly to shame/coerce him into paying, you should consider looking into (1) your state's debt collection laws, (2) his state's debt collection laws, (3) federal debt collection laws, (4) applicable laws regarding whether this debt is even legally collectible, and (5) hell, maybe even defamation laws, considering "This deadbeat doesn't pay his debts and can't be trusted" might be defamatory if there is no legal debt.

tdomeski: Here's $20.

Admo: And $2, your change. And-a we thank-a you.

yeah lol me because what do I know, but there are a ton of laws out there specifically designed to prevent and punish shaming/harassing people into paying debts. "You might want to look into that" isn't some ****ing ridiculous notion. If someone came to me and said, "A group of people are publicly humiliate into paying a gambling debt," guess where I'm looking first to see if there's a lawsuit?

oh man filing a lawsuit against the people you stole money from would be the scummiest move in 2p2 history. would definitely contribute to the "send thugs to his door" fund if that happens

I'm down to take a day off work to go to watch the court case if there is a lawsuit that makes it that far.

None of us that are owed money have suggested doing any such thing.

Who will he scam to get the money to hire an attorney tho? Do you think Hoya and Hoya Esquires are going to take a case like this on contingency?

I mean it's not like we're verifiably well heeled and insured and dropped a piano on his head. Internet randos making possibly libelous statements on the Webz isn't likely to be a case where an ambulance chaser well tell him, "Don't worry about a thing TEE DOME, leave everything to me."

Not that it changes a ton but didn't he send $80 later in the same day he sent the $20?

Seems like admo got a good price on the debt to me.

Obv people's definition of "steal" differs, but X suing Y after taking Y's money happens all the time. Debt collection lawsuits are an industry. Even if actual damages are low, most debt collection statutes allow for statutory damages, and (to answer Ashington's question) firms that specialize in these lawsuits will take them on a contingency fee basis.

Also, no matter how scummy it is to anyone else, people will protect themselves. No one is going to take it in stride that their name is being eviscerated, even if they know it's deserved.

I don't know exactly how this scenario would play out legally, but I've seen worse.

Surprised you see it that way then. He owed $15,000 and managed to cobble together $100 (late, after his deadline) in like a month. That's not exactly promising.

I believe he's paid out 1k+ of the debt. It sucks he isn't paying out faster but getting $50-100 a month is way better than zero.
