Aside from the thinking we're going to win. Yeah we're favored by 3 points. Of course we think we're going to win you goon.

They aren't going to shut down Falcons Bc that offense is too good. But it's gonna be a heck of a lot tougher for ATL to score than against GB's awful D. I'm thinking 27-24 or so.

Reminds me of Pats vs Colts in 2004. Colts had the scariest unit (offense) but also the worst unit by far (defense). Pats were the ones who had the easier time scoring, I see that being the case here as well.

I'd say 14 points is more likely than 44. But i'd bet on 24-27.

Now change "Antonio Brown" to "Julio Jones". Let's see how Matty does when his first read is rarely an option.

I'm taking every Julio prop under, and ATL's point total under. If Pats get to 27, they win; if they get to 30 (and why wouldn't they?), they cover.

BTW, one thing no one talks about when wondering if the NE defense is any good: the help they get from the offense and the special teams. NE wins the field position game week after week after week. Patriots punter Ryan Allen almost never puts one in the end zone, he is consistently pinning teams inside the 5-7 yard line.

Having great players is gravy, but it's stuff like that (avoiding mistakes like punting into the end zone, committing penalties, committing turnovers) that wins this team most of its games.

If it is correct i think that goes to show the quality of Atlanta's weapons in that they are more successful when Ryan spreads it around to everyone.

I think these people are Pats fans (sorry if some of you aren't). Some real outrageous stuff here. Eltbus, no clue where you're coming from here, but feel free to quote the offending posts I'm missing. Or, like I'm assuming, it's just haters hating

There really should be more love given they haven't been competitive since he graduated. Late in the 2007 season #15 BC @ #16 Clemson game was one of my more heartbreaking live sports experiences. He was a stone cold killer that year. People tend to forget that and remember the saddest ACC Championship game ever instead.

Re: SUPER BOWL LI: GOOD (+3) vs. EVIL (o/u 58)

Gotta credit Pats in a way coz they lost the most dominant non qb offensive player in the league in basically week 10 (yeah he had a handful snaps week 12) and they still made the superbowl with little to no resistance.

If Gronk was healthy, atlanta could have everyone back from injury and it wouldnt matter

Yea the 2007 game against Virginia Tech was an absolute heartbreaker. BC was #2 vs #8 VT and needed a last minute drive in the pouring rain to pull it off. Crushed.
Got revenge in the ACC championship game though.

Apparently Ryan threw the ball 52 times that game, which was played in a rainstorm

Re: SUPER BOWL LI: GOOD (+3) vs. EVIL (o/u 58)

Boston is a much much bigger pro sports town vs college. Plus when Ryan was at BC the Pats dynasty was in full swing and dominating the media (spygate, near perfect season etc). So it was news yeah but he was never the center of attention.

Plus he is a vanilla guy and sort of a vanilla story. He's never had enough tremendous success or tragic failures to produce haters and always seems like a good guy who doesn't make the news for doing dumb stuff. Meanwhile he's been consistently good enough to keep away the hot takes. The skill of Big Ben without the rapes, the aw shucks of Peyton without the huge highs and lows, the looks of Brady without the rings, etc etc

Obviously he's a great QB but isn't a huge story in Boston.

Re: SUPER BOWL LI: GOOD (+3) vs. EVIL (o/u 58)

He has been the least polarizing QB for his entire career.

Probably a combination of being pretty good but not elite so it doesn't evoke strong emotions from people and also playing for the Falcons, a team nobody really cares about.

The Ryan vs VT game was epic. Kid was vomiting on the sideline in the midst of the comeback.

Re: SUPER BOWL LI: GOOD (+3) vs. EVIL (o/u 58)

Someone touched on the fact that the Falcons don't have a huge fan base because of how many transplants there are in Atlanta.

That's definitely true, but a bigger issue is that they are a 50 year old expansion team that was absolutely putrid for 40 years. They only had four 10+ win seasons from 1966-2006. Most of them were 4-12 and worse. The plebs here have latched onto Georgia and the SEC in general instead of the NFL.

The last decade has been good for them. No rangs but the team has had good seasons. Winning this Super Bowl would be huge for the franchise.

Re: SUPER BOWL LI: GOOD (+3) vs. EVIL (o/u 58)

So my hopes for the game, aside from, obviously, a Pats win, is a high scoring affair. I've seen more than enough Pats teams lose in the playoffs because the offense gets stifled and Brady looks human. If we do end up losing, I want it to be a 41-38 affair where both offenses just put on a great show, and Atlanta just makes one more play. I'd rather not relive 2008 and 2011 thanks.

That being said, I'm sure if the above does take place, I'll be cursing out the defense for not showing up and I'll be livid that the one time our offense blows up our defense can't make a stop to save it's life.

I think there's a lot of reasons Falcons fans aren't more into it or numerous

- transplants in Atlanta
- the dome is stale. Hopefully the new alien looking building with a retractable roof is more appealing
- lack of superstars (Vick?)
- people are so into college fb they don't get so invested in NFL
- let's face it Atlanta doesn't have many titles to build momentum. A championship will probably bring with it ten solid years of followers. None of that here except for braves. The hawks right now are barely talked about.

I think had we beat the 9ers we coulda beaten the ravens a few years back. But then we'd still have smitty instead of coach bro, and no shanahan, and who knows where we are at right now if that's what happened. But the fans woulda been all in at least for sure

Us winning came at the perfect time for the new stadium next season

Thanks for the shout out in the OP. Appreciatecthe hate. Honestly haven't watched much Falcons football this year so not sure what to expect. This is a big one though. Would love to see Brady get the most SV's ever and to do it at 39, cementing his legacy.

Anyhow, Go Pats!!!

They beat #1 ND after the game of the century (ND vs FSU) in 1993. The BC upset of ND was honestly one of the greatest games ever.
