Ok, so based on that, it'll take a lot more to "make up" for Tyree catch.

Pats just won super bowl after being down 25. 2007 means **** today. It's time to enjoy 2017

Haha. I'm drunk (obv). So whatever. But i know the 18-1 team was objectively better than all the teams that won. But it's ok. I will still have fun tomorrow

3 would be really hard. Idk. 3 Ships isn't prestigious as much historically, but perfect season would be a bonus. I don't think I'd do it
I hate you.

Fine, I don't feel the need to now, and probably won't again at any point. So we won't.

BUT, the tyree catch was on basically a 4th down hail mary (4th and 23, right?) in complete desperation.

The Edelman catch was on first ****ing down. If he drops it like he would 99% you think we wouldn't have gotten that first down? Atlanta's D was exhausted and TB was rolling (besides throwing that ball short, I guess)

IN CONCLUSION I, and all other Pats fans, will agree to never complain about the Tyree catch again, under the condition that you all agree to agree that the 18-1 2007 Pats team was/is the best football constructed/executed football team of all time. We were!

Yeah, we lost the SB. Some freaky **** happened. It happens. But no team ever was better than them. Those are the terms.
Surprising you could forget the details of the Tyree play since you watch at most one game a year.

In general I agree, but in particular it's crazy for the Pats/Boston fans born after 1995. Those of us who remember the 1-15 season before Parcells arrived and the threats to move to St. Louis have a greater appreciation for what they've been able to do.

I hope Patriot fans watch the Tuck Rule game every year and thank god for an awful call that made Tom Brady relevant. Without that call, they are still a sorry ass franchise.

I would rather have 5 superbowls than the perfect season so wouldn't give up any. Well maybe next years... We don't really need 6 even though it will be sweet.

what is both encouraging and frustrating is that the falcons were every bit as physically talented and athletic and capable on the field as the pats.

and what is really frustrating that our coaching staff took us out of a position to win.

I'd argue that the Patriots coaching staff failed their team for the whole first half. Play calling was just horrific. But maybe they wanted to setup the greatest slow roll in the history of slow rolls.

Yea the way the first 3 quarters were going, it was definitely looking like a "better team won" game, which made it somewhat easier to take

this is basically what Pats opponents have been saying verbatim since 2001. it's boring but consistent execution and less dumb mistakes is the edge Pats have had on everyone, not talent.

No it should be called "giving himself up", which is the end of the play. There was a similar play made by Victor Cruz in a Giants-Arizona game a few years ago. He caught a pass in a hurry-up situation and simply put the ball on the ground. The play was blown dead there.

Yeah Suzzer's story makes sense until you realize that he lives on the west coast and the game still ended at like 7:30 there.

I'm concerned about DQ moving forward. I had trepidation with him going into this season much because of how 2015 went. We lost a handful of games due entirely to coaching decisions, and this was a guy that was supposed to replace Smitty who was notorious for that. The knock on DQ here in Atlanta is he’s a really good coach in terms of motivation and getting along with players, and creating little phrases that sound good (“affect the qb”… “finish the game”…. “warrior of a competitor”) thus given the nickname Coach Bro by a few smart asses on local radio - but his strategic ability is..... unknown?

My goal for 2016 was simply to make it through the entire season without a coach costing us a game. We were looking good until the 4th quarter of the superbowl on that and then Atlanta went and Atlanta’d like they’d never Atlanta’d before. I got real fear that even with Kyle gone, we don’t have a guy to make those tough calls. This call wasn’t even tough. Run the ball, take a knee, whatever, kick a field goal. And he failed. Coincidentally he was on the Seattle staff that also blew it vs New England (yes I get he’s not making that call).

But everyone will place all the blame on Kyle and not coach bro. It’s convenient until it pops up again.

Yea Pats won so no one will talk about it but that coaching staff looked completely blown away by the speed the Falcons had on both sides of the ball. They did not call a good game at all and looked unprepared that entire first half.

One thing is I think there is a good chance he wisens the **** up and realizes everything isn't always about making big plays and being a tough football team - sometimes you look at the score and look at the clock and do the right thing there even if it something the Nave Seals wouldn't do. Instead, he hands the freaking Patriots yet another undeserved title. Hopefully he doesn't sleep for a month while he figures this out.
