As a Pats fan I have one lines to draw.

to the YOU CAN NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT THE TYREE CATCH AGAIN NOW:

Fine, I don't feel the need to now, and probably won't again at any point. So we won't.

BUT, the tyree catch was on basically a 4th down hail mary (4th and 23, right?) in complete desperation.

The Edelman catch was on first ****ing down. If he drops it like he would 99% you think we wouldn't have gotten that first down? Atlanta's D was exhausted and TB was rolling (besides throwing that ball short, I guess)

IN CONCLUSION I, and all other Pats fans, will agree to never complain about the Tyree catch again, under the condition that you all agree to agree that the 18-1 2007 Pats team was/is the best football constructed/executed football team of all time. We were!

Yeah, we lost the SB. Some freaky **** happened. It happens. But no team ever was better than them. Those are the terms.

Plus the Kearse catch thing which turns the last one into the ~miracle Butler INT lucky narrative~, into yeah they stopped em around the 50 i guess they deserved it

It was. Also don't forget Asante Samuel had two hands on an EASY INT the play before and dropped it.

Edit: Slow pony

Gronk is able to stretch the field and the Patriots have had some deep threats in the past, Moss obviously the best one, but overall they've mostly relied on their short game offense to win their games. It's very efficient. Just look at Brady's completion percentages and TD/int ratio in recent years. Sure some of that is on him being a great QB but alot of that also has to do with the system that he's in.

Yes, yes of course the system is a big factor as it was for Montana and Young under Walsh.

I mean only a Pats fan could somehow go from the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history to begging for acknowledgement of the greatness of a team of chokers a decade ago. Sad!

Ok so my twitter sources were in fact unreliable. I still think the terms are reasonable.

this is an absolutely fine take I am ok with.

Why the **** did they throw that far on 3rd and 5 tho? Whatever works. Thank god Tom Coughlin's retired.

As someone who grew up during the terrible SB era where like 1 in 5 was any good - we should all be thankful for this run. The good Superbowls started with what - the Rams/Titans?

I took that as well as part of the Falcon meltdown. Here you have probably the most shook player in the history of the NFL, and you send him out alone against a pack of predator wolves drooling over his weakness at the moment. It was bad strategy and it was part of the meltdown. No regrouping. Just "devour us, wolves." That's how that moment hit me.

Broncos/Packers 2 years before. Then it alternated between good and bad until Pats/Panthers. And mostly been good since besides a few.

Slater had been terrible on coin toss calls all year. When he saw Ryan by himself, he knew it was a wrap.

Pats fans,

So if you could go back and some how give those 18-1 pats the win over the giants, but you would have to give back other superbowl wins, how many and which ones would you give back.

I'm not a pats fan, but I think giving up any two others to win that game is a no-brainer. So, I guess the question is would you give up 3 or more. If so, which ones.

I'd def give up this one. Falcons are a fun/good team full of guys i like. And then just don't call the tuck rule on the first one? The second two nooo ****ing way. We were the best teams those years. So Brady/Belichik get 4 with the B2B, the seahawks one, and the perfect season. That's still goat and we have the only modern perfect season.

3 would be really hard. Idk. 3 Ships isn't prestigious as much historically, but perfect season would be a bonus. I don't think I'd do it

Wouldn't give two from first one, Seahawks one or this one.

Id say would give up 03 and 04 for 07.

Not a chance at giving up three. That's just insane.

Dude please stop. No one is arguing that this catch was as important as Tyree catch. But it was pretty damn lucky and still a big play.
