Can it really be considered hating when your teams track record precedes itself? I don't consider myself a hater, I respect what the Pats do but those who don't like them have some very valid reasons. That isn't hating.

I'm looking forward to how much run BB is going to give Blount since Lewis is lurking as a potential matchup nightmare the same way Coleman is for Atlanta. Whichever one of those guys can provide the biggest play for their team might just be the difference.

I think these things would largely just cancel each other out though. I imagine the worst passing offense in the league would be able to put up an average-ish day against the worst passing defense in the league. what normally is a huge negative for both teams ends up being neutral for both of them.

I think Lewis will get the most touches. he is a matchup nightmare for most teams. Pats have actually never lost a game with him.

It depends. I think your 90/10 is probably too extreme, like 75/25 might be more like it.

I think a big "matchup" thing involves shutdown CB's. Like if you've got prime Darrelle Revis but you are in the superbowl vs a team thats led in yards by Jermaine Kearse, it isn't as nice of a luxury to have him as it would be if you were playing a team that got so much of its offense from 1 receiver like Calvin Johnson or Julio Jones.

Some matchups shutdown CB's can be much more valuable than others.

Does anyone know the extent of Bill Belichick's role with the '96 Pats team or where I could read about it? Couldn't really find much.

I know he was assistant HC and DB's coach in job title but it doesn't say much more than that.

My gut tells me that playoff experience will come into play here and Atlanta is going to choke. My gut has been wrong for the last million superbowls. Take it into consideration!

Also, you guys really expect Goodell and Vegas to lose? GL.

(money is still on pats lol)

But I get excited when I see he's posted something, the way I used to get excited about opening a Simmons piece 15 years ago.

Out of the 100 employees ESPN had give predictions for the Super Bowl, 72 picked the Patriots to win.

Barnwell's 17 point margin was by far the biggest projected difference (Matt Bowen was 2nd with a 12 point margin).

Not a lot of people out on limbs...except maybe Steve Levy who predicted a 14-10 Patriots win.

Trey Wingo had the largest Falcons prediction, 27-17.

This reminds me of the story about the Japanese soldier that hid out for off the grid for like 3 decades refusing to surrender after WW2.

Grunching. Heard this on the radio coming home and haven't fact-checked any of it.

Patriots are -0.5 in the 1st quarter. Apparently, in the their past 6 Super Bowls, they have a combined 0 points in first quarters.

Given how fast the Falcons start, this feels like the free-est money ever.

It's a true stat and in their only other SB appearance only a fg in the first. Pretty wild.

Nobody in the world with a brain should consider anybody a lock. There's no such thing at this point in the game.

I've got the falcons at 40% to win, which incidentally lines up pretty well with the percentage of people betting on New England last I checked.

Turns out all Matt Ryan needed was 5 great WRs to get everyone on his band wagon.
Here's a question I asked at work this week:

How good would Brady be if he had started with the Falcons system and stayed there? How much better than Ryan would he be? I really have no idea. My uneducated opinion is he's a great quarterback that has been taken to another level by the team he's with. I suck at evaluating quarterbacks in a vacuum.

Im the guy with no brain that thinks Pats are a lock. I respect Falcons offense but they are playing against a D that can atleast put up a fight. Pats Offense is legit good too and they are playing a D that has no shot at stopping them.

Falcons need to play perfect on offense and catch some breaks on D to be in with a shot of winning. The likely scenario for this game is Pats go up early and Falcons start to fall apart.

The Boo Hoo Falcons Crew can bitch and moan about this prediction but we all know its more probable than not.

Yea there's no such thing as a lock. This Falcons team is better than the Giants team that beat the Pats when they were 16-0 and that team is better than the current Pats team.

Personally I think the Falcons aren't getting enough credit. Seems like their lack of experience is the "reason" they can't win. Bull****. They can win.

Lock means 0% chance. I mean, in case you weren't sure about the terminology. It's a lock that you weren't sure.

See how that works?
