Of all the people on Grantland that deserve scorn, Barnwell is probably not one of them. Also, despite what you apparently took as a perceived slight to your beloved Cardinals, there is nothing lolworthy in what you just quoted.

Describing something as underrated and being surprised when it performs is lolworthy.

Just because one particular unit is underrated doesn't mean we shouldn't be surprised when the 6-to-1 dog pulls off the upset. Also, that game might have influenced our perceptions as to how good that one unit is.

But keep ****ing that chicken

I have been thinking barnwell gets a lot of hate on here as well despite being really the only mainstream writer who seems to look at the numbers and do a pretty good job analyzing them

NFC East is clearly best division in football

Eagles < 49ers
Giants >>> Seahawks
Cowboys >>> Cardinals
Redskins = Rams

Bill also thinks that if you get 3 to 1 odds, you need 33% to break even.

Oh and this: "So if you're scoring at home, we'd have Russell's Celtics, Jordan's Bulls, Magic's Lakers and LeBron's LeBrons. Doesn't that sound horrifying? Let's hope he doesn't read this column and decide it's a good idea."

I have no doubt that he knows LeBron follows him on twitter. I would also guess that he thinks there is a decent shot LeBron reads that as he is writing it.

What is this in reference to? This gets screwed up by lay people often enough, but someone who jokes all the time about being a degenerate gambler, it's pretty bad. Coulda just been a brain fart though.

He's done it in at least a column and in a podcast. Can't remember which one(s), but I remember loling to myself in every instance (it wasn't 3:1 every time so I think he just doesn't get it).

lol Simmons:

Quote:
Clearly, ESPN wanted Simmons. The online franchise turned down offers for a Countdown role in previous years. Why was the timing right now?

“I nearly ended up doing it last year but Grantland just wasn’t ready yet — we had only been up for six months and we had half as many people as we have now,” Simmons told SI.com. “We were working insane hours and I couldn’t have asked the others to pick up any more slack. I would have had to drink three times as many Diet Cokes as Mike Francesa"
Quote:
"Remind me we had this conversation when I’m working 80 hours a week next May and starting to look like one of the Walking Dead zombies."
it's like he's a robot who has to make at least one tired pop culture reference every 5 sentences or he short-circuits
