Other players seem to love the guy.

That's cause he's one of the best post defenders of all time and doesn't care all that much about offense while still having the skill to hit any shot on the court and space the defense, a reluctant post player he was one of the best when he went down there. He's basically a hybrid of Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan except zapped with a lazy ray gun.

Some of Barkley's comments are lol but like 5 years back he said something to the effect of if Rasheed had the mental toughness of a Kobe or a MJ he would've been the GOAT. Kenny didn't really flinch either.

Game respects game.

But I agree that saying he was beloved is stupid unless you're qualifying it as not from a fans angle but his peers.

It is ridiculous to call him "one of the most beloved athletes of the last 20 years" in any context.

Marlo is a great character, Bodie is a top 3-5 character.

Despite his usual Patriots fanboyism shining through, I liked the Mangini podcast.

Couldn't get through that Bill James one. Too many awkward pauses.

Bodie is #1 in my book.

yeah Bodie was great. first time through i kept hoping he'd be one of the smart ass pawns that would make it to the end of the game, but alas he kept it too real. as did the show, which is why he couldn't win. the game is rigged.

bracket easily could have been 64. i remember some other site ran a top-50 characters from The Wire list i still thought they had glaring omissions.

I've really never understood all the Bodie love. Sure, fine character and all, but I doubt he even cracks my top 10. (Would probably choose him over Marlo, though.)

This is madness. Marlo > almost everyone.

He was basically an under-achieving waste of talent. And one that was painful and frustrating to watch.

I'm not sure how he was a hybrid of KG and Duncan in any way. Both those guys were better than him at every single thing on the basketball court except shooting 3s.

Big lols at even mentioning that Rasheed probably won't make the hall of fame (as a 13ppg scorer)

I watched The Wire and thought it deserved its hype as one of the great shows ever...but unlike all the other great shows, I never felt the urge to rewatch it. I've seen every Sopranos 2-3 times, every Deadwood at least 9 times, Every West Wing (Sorkin Years) at least a half-dozen times...

But I haven't seen The Wire enough to instantly recognize every character mentioned ITT.

KG wasn't the post defender (he was a weak side help defender like a Ben Wallace) Sheed was or as strong and diversified in the post offensively.

Duncan didn't have his range.

Yes they were both better but that was b/c of drive, not skill. He was more mobile than Duncan and stronger w/ a better base than KG, if only he would've used his powers for good.

I want to start a twitter campaign to get Haralabob on the BS Report. He is a great interview and think he would be perfect.

Man, I went through it again almost immediately after the first time I watched it. The show is a completely different experience, knowing what a small piece of the puzzle you're getting S1, and being able to fill in the gaps of what's going on around the crew and the detail from what you've seen in subsequent seasons.

I thought Mangini one was terrible and I'm a big Simmons apologist. Nonstop "us" & "we" and "How about THIS fake trade, Eric?", as well as all the whining about the SB.

I honestly believe Simmons forgot Mangini was no longer on the Pats staff and couldn't GAF about them aside from Brady and a couple other old-timers.

I liked the Bill James one, tho I hear you about the pause thing. Problem with guests who pause is that it gives tard hosts room to leap in with a new question, throw the guy off in the middle of his answer, usually right as he's getting to a cool anecdote. The guy who does the podcasts with Phil Gordon is really bad at that.

Years ago, some morning radio duo here had set a girl up on a pure sex blind date. Ongoing bit, girl calls in with some fantasy, guys get screened and she picks one, they go out on weekend, she gives report Monday, etc. Trainwrecks galore ldo.

ANYWAY, this particular date had blazed like a housefire. She calls in and is getting fairy explicit and turned on recounting it, the one DJ is calmly drawing her out when the other jagoff leaps in with a Butthead "UHUHHUH did you suck his TOES? Did he kiss your BUTT?" Ruined the whole damn thing.

/tangent
