Simmons: “one of the best young pitchers in DeGrom.”

Jacob DeGrom is 30 years old.

Celebrities, Athletes, and sports writers tweeting opinions that have no possibility of being condemned by the masses, is the ugliest virtue signaling out there. What is Bill Simmons adding to the debate? Millions of people have already tweeted the same thing. Of course, on the flip side, if you tweet something that goes against the grain you might get fired.

Twitter might be the dumbest act a public figure can ever engage in. There isn't a human alive who ever got promoted or hired due to a tweet, but many have lost careers. It is the highest risk, lowest reward, most bottom feeding activity a person can possibly do. I guess they must keep up with the social media Joneses. Yuck city. And Bill Simmons hasn't had an interesting insight in many years. He offers zero.

Interesting story about the guy who broke the Urban Meyer story.

Cliffs: Brett McMurphy gets laid off by ESPN. Gets paid so long as he doesn't violate his non-compete clause. Breaks news on his Facebook page to avoid violating that. Lines up gig for when his ESPN contract expires.

Anyone read Clay Travis' book?

Rips ESPN a new one in it, among other things

First, you go into the politics thread and personal-responsibility-it-up and now you're asking a forum stuffed with youngish, educated, urban people if they've read a clay travis book? No, have not read. No, will not read. If you have to ask why, you'll just disagree anyway, so don't ask why.

clay travis is an idiot
Sports Media Discussion (RIP ESPN) Quote

why?

as in, do you have a specific reason or just that you generally don't agree with his takes so he must be an idiot?

Clay Travis is the moron who wrote a 20 page complaint about getting booted off a plane because his kid had lice when weeks earlier said he had no problem with the same airline dragging that doctor off the plane because airlines have the right to boot off whoever they want, except apparently his lice riddled kid.

Also said that Lebron James had a slur spray painted on his own home as a false flag operation in order to build up goodwill before the NBA finals.

Among other reasons.

never heard of the plane story, I'll have to look it up. really stupid on travis' part if true

That LeBron story is one of the funniest stories to come out of the sports world, and Travis isn't why it was funny. Lebron is just one of those guys who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room but never actually is

(and before this is twisted, no, if a racial slur was painted, that's not what's funny)

fine, it's true.

Lebron's people see the slur, call the police, and paint over it while they wait for police.

that's mind numbingly stupid. Who paints over evidence while they wait for police?
