Think I have to agree. Not familiar with Rubin but Serrano is horrendous. The thing is I can at least understand the brain dead idiots that Serrano caters too and why they like him, and he does put in a lot of work/volume.

Chris Ryan legit has no talent and is a dumbass chuckle**** moron. No idea how he’s even alive let alone employed. The guy is a complete hack.

I have no idea how Serrano caters to anyone. I've been told his basketball stuff is ok but I don't really follow the sport, but the pop culture stuff that's been linked in here is ****ing horrific. isn't he also the 'is Ryan Reynolds actually Ryan Gosling' guy?

I didn't like any of the Matrix movies so I never had reason to read that. Agreed it is not good.

I really liked him on a few of the Rewatchables podcasts. I think Point Break was the first one where I noticed I was liking him.

FWIW The Rap Yearbook Serrano wrote is pretty great. One of the best reviewed books I've seen on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Rap-Year-Book.../dp/1419718185

I guess that's not entirely fair since this is a sports media thread. I can see how Serrano would be polarizing. I do not care for Rubin and netw3rk but I can see they likely have an audience that the site doesn't otherwise capture.

Shoemaker is still the GOAT wrestling journalist.
I like Alison Herman and Claire McNear as well.

Re: Sports Media Discussion (RIP ESPN)

The Simmons article is so brutal though. So many Pats fans can't seem to wrap their heads around the idea of Kraft meddling since he's ostensibly never meddled before. Brady is on a completely different level than guys like Milloy, Welker and Willfork. He's legitimately in the conversation for greatest athlete in the history of pro sports and Kraft probably likes him more than his own son.

Kraft is 76 now. His wife is dead and he'll be lucky if he has another five years left. He's gotten more out of the Patriots than he ever imagined getting out of them when he bought the team. You think he gives a **** about how competitive they are in the AFC East 4 years from now? He wants a few more good runs and for Brady to give him a glowing eulogy at his funeral.

The Drew Magary article is terrible as well though. Basically, he's bitter because Bill has gotten a bunch of lucrative opportunities and other writers haven't. For all his faults, Bill has been pretty great when it comes to giving women and PoC opportunities in the world of sports media. Kind of surprising it hasn't bought him more cred from lefty sites like Deadspin.

Damn. That's savage but it's true.

Life is like Pro Wrestling - we all go out on our back.

Doesn't matter how much money you have, you still gotta wake up in the morning at look at yourself in the mirror just like a peasant does, and one day you're gonna die too.

Never thought of it that way but it makes sense, Kraft care more about the feels of being around Brady than he does about the equity of the team 6 years from now.

I wonder if Simmons would have had the same success if he grew up a Yankee fan in the Bronx. Part of the charm when he was the Sports Guy was the Pats/RS never winning anything.

What record? Why is it so important to you that strangers on the internet give you credit for being the first person to hold a completely meaningless opinion on a completely meaningless topic?

But ok

The record officially reflects that Raids was the first person to not let his lolsimmons hatred blind him to lolmags.

Your parents will be super proud. Lawschool paying off.

Re: Sports Media Discussion (RIP ESPN)

lol Zach just setup and destroyed bill on his own podcast in regards to the rockets. He asked bill if he thought rockets were for real and bill said what he though was the right answer “no”. Lowe then went on about how he thought they were 2nd best and bill just had no choice but to dig in

Connor: No doubt, and in fact just to keep it on that tip, her 18th birthday is April 23, and the countdown is on baby, ’cause I got my Wooderson going. “That’s what I like about them high school girls.”

Stevens: I love it P-Con, I’m right there with you.

Connor: She’s fine as hell! If she was 18, you wouldn’t be ashamed to say that she’s a little hot piece of ass. And she is. She is adorable. I’m a huge Chloe Kim fan.

Braden [laughing]: That’s it.

Stevens [laughing]: Did you just take a boner pill?
