But who cares, it's their company, they can run it however they want.
Schilling, the guy who somehow wasn't fired for comparing Muslims to Nazis, or saying Hillary should be dead under a jail somewhere? That guy?

He was fired for repeatedly violating company policy despite many warnings and second chances. Not comparable at all.

Don't be a racist bigoted ****wad

Calling out the person who will go down as one of the worst presidents in history, for doing things that make him one of the worst presidents in history, should not result in a firing. She got this right. Go whine with everyone else at chiefsplanet

I can't believe I'm ****ing defending ESPN here. Another reason why Trump is WOAT

You are dumb right? I literally posted I don't think ANYBODY, should be fired or suspended for having an opinion outside of work.

At the time? Basically don't be controversial on social media.

Schilling got fired because he did it repeatedly, this is Hill's first time. If she goes on blast once or twice more presumably she'll gone

It was no personal attacks or drive by comments on social media.

Limiting free speech because you don't agree with somebody is a very slippery slope.

ESPN trying suspending Jemele Hill, and asking two black anchors to fill in for her and Smith has to be the most lol thing of all time. This network just cannot get anything right.

I don't care how much of a left winger you are, you still have to be enough in touch with reality to know that if one of their on air personalities had gone after Obama like that in a tweet storm they would have suffered much more severe consequences. At a minimum they would have been forced to apologize and suspended for awhile.

And not solely because ESPN has adopted a very noticeable left wing social agenda in their programming and commentary the past 5'ish years, but also because they were very chummy with Obama personally. He did some sort of segment or interview or appearance on something ESPN all the time.

I'm def. of the opinion someone should NOT be fired from their job for expressing political opinions outside of work, be it Schilling or Hill or anybody. This crusade of trying to get everyone fired from their job because they said something politically you don't like is a game that will have no winners ultimately. Everyone is outraged or offended by something.

However fair minded people can see the hypocrisy of these organizations. In the US in 2017 speech left wingers find offensive is far, far more likely to get you in trouble than speech right wingers find offensive. This was probably the opposite 50 years ago.

Fun to see those that would usually be the first to point out a business has the right to fire their employees for almost any reason they see fit rallying against a company for not firing an employee for whatever reason they see fit.

Sounds like you need a safe space, snowflake.

Literally nothing that she said in those tweets was incorrect. You're the one that's out of touch with reality, you ****ing cotton-headed ninnymuggin. Take it to the politics thread so that I can stop defending the flaming dumpster that is ESPN. Let's get back to making fun of them for the actual stupid **** that they do.

I don't think this is true. I think Hill has a previous incident in her past, but I could be wrong.

Regardless, if a black woman gets the long end of the stick for the first time in history, I will not be too bummed out.

Great point, Trump definitely didn't have a television show from which he could have been fired before he became president.

Lol the one he produced? I think he would have survived if they cancelled it.

Great example of somebody calling another person a racist without actually seeing what was said. Summed up perfectly.

is this meant at anyone in particular because the posters you are talking about itt have literally stated they dont think people should be fired for it

people can say what they want to. businesses can respond how they want to. people can respond to the business how they want to. people can lol at those people if they want to. and so it goes

at the end of the day lol watching espn now for anything but actual sports that arent on anywhere else. if they didnt have mnf and college games it would be an easy cut from the channel lineup although the fantasy show isnt terrible

Jemele Hill is a racist pos who should have been fired a long time ago since she is terrible at her job and is clueless about sports.

I hope ESPN dies. Same with Trump.

That said, expecting their public figures to not put the president on blast seems reasonable. Their viewership spans the entire political spectrum. ESPN would lose a ton of viewers if their announcers were constantly spewing **** on Twitter. I don't think it's a matter of her being right or whatever.
