“It’s horrible,” Andrews says. “Anytime I’m in a situation where I feel like I’m being stared at, I’m paranoid, I get defensive, I’m on edge. I’ve created this situation where I always wonder, Has that person seen me naked?” Andrews noticed her neighbor Googling her name. Her stomach dropped. Is he going to search for the video? Instead he sent a text:

“OMG I’m sitting next to Erin Andrews.”
A few seconds later, the reply: “Hahaha wow. I can’t believe she’s actually on a public plane. I thought she was scared of big crowds.”
Andrews snapped out of her gaze. “Hey,” she said, sternly. “I’m a real person, you know.”

The man fumbled with his phone as he stashed it into his pocket.

“I’m so sorry,” he told her. “I really didn’t mean that.”

“That’s O.K.,” she replied. “It’s just, things like that bring me pain."

Rapaport going in on Aziz Ansari for being the 35894629246th person to make a (tame af) Chris Brown joke, hard-defending the guy who did this to Rihanna:

and objecting to AA casting white gfs

bold strategy, Cotton

he just trying to get his name out there, or wtf?

She seems to be taking ownership of it. She recognizes it's illogical. Seems as she's using the term "paranoid" in the way that implies irrationality. Would anybody here want to be famous if they didn't get paid fame money? Again, I think she's been super professional from everything I've seen of her. It's hard for me to see a rational distaste for her on the court of public opinion on this one.

I absolutely feel sympathy for her. But her whole narrative here loses something when she willingly goes on tv in front of millions of people for millions of dollars. Like if you are so emotionally scarred that you have to check the guy next to you on a plane's phone, how can you go on tv where people definitely know who you are and have definitely seen you naked. Unlike the guy on the plane who only might recognize you and might have seen the ****ty videos

If you have sympathy for her, maybe just realize your logic on the rest is bad and take a lap and don't worry about it.

Also since someone reaffirmed my Mickstape podcast fandom in the super bowl thread I'll plug it one more time. A white dude from Boston (with an elite Boston accent) and a black dude from Atlanta talking **** about mostly the NBA but also other sports and music. They obv talk **** about the super bowl in the most recent ep. It is in fact good and not bad.

Mickstape. Check it out.

Simmons is pumping out mailbags lately.

Maybe he is starting to write more because he has to save Ringer.

This is definitely the case. He has been linking a bunch of articles written by other people, too. I think he realizes he needs to get more involved for this to work. Surprised it took him so long to realize that.

Well with stuff like "Who Was the Better Movie Wolf? The Wolf of Wall Street vs. the Wolf From ‘The Grey’?" it's hard to see how The Ringer needs Simmons at all

Be sure to include that the quality was **** so you couldn't really see anything. But what you did see looked good.

seems kinda irrational to invade ppl's privacy by scoping their devices because you have ptsd about a similar thing

i assume she's in therapy, but seems like she needs a lot more of it to deal with this in a manner that isn't kind of mental ... she seems to recognize this, which is good

that she has a career on tv is her fame money

plus she probably gets bonus revenue streams that aren't really available to Tracy Wolfson, Doris Burke, etc

i feel bad for her, but she's always come across as being kinda awful

not based on anything concrete, but idk, just something about her

(going back to before any of this happened, i mean)

Got a few stories about her a few years back as she dates JStoll. Seemed normal and good egg. GOUSA#1G.

72o do you hold any criteria for determining a pretty girl posing as a journalist vs a journalist who happens to be pretty? In my view Andrews is clearly the latter and, like anyone else who just happens to be lucky to look great, doesn't necessarily deserve to be punished because she's pretty.

I heard Jemele Hill & Michael Smith on Pardon My Takethe other day. They are taking over the 6PM Sportscenter. One of the first things Hill says is we are not doing highlights lol.

Let's give Jemele Hill an hour to do dumb ass commentary at a prime spot. No wonder ESPN has gone downhill.

I'm curious to hear her opine, at length, as to why Mitch Trubisky is selected before Deshaun Watson.

she's a sideline reporter, which is about the lowest form of sports journalist, which is about the lowest form of journalist, if you can really call them that. need better terminology to differentiate tbh. she has a job that basically shouldn't exist iyam.

only slightly trying to be a dick about this, but does she actually commit acts of journalism?
(outside of maybe filing pre/post game reports)

don't really care about her looks, don't think she deserves to be punished. but she's also been rewarded quite well due to her looks.
