Not sure if they still do, but Simmons, Kimmel, and Stewart all shared the same agent for a long time (the infamous "Baby Doll"), so they've probably crossed paths with each other and have other mutual friends. Could definitely see them trying to work together on some stuff, especially if Stewart could keep his base in NYC and Simba could stay in LA.

I couldn't agree more, people just aren't gonna pay. Also lol at Stewart becoming dids, quite apt.

that tweet is based on an enormous sample size of 7 games and is skewed by a 10-0 result.

at this point it's already clear that this is a laughably bad tweet, but it actually gets worse. the competition has been expanded to 24 teams for the first time, which weakens the field and gives the potential for much greater blowouts. for example, the germany 10-0 victory was over ivory coast, ranked #67 in the world.

this is just such awful, awful work by nate. i am done ever defending him again.

that nate tweet is pretty horrible, agreed.

he's just not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. he buys his own hype at this point.

I regret drafting him in the original poaster draft

Admittedly I only skimmed the article, but can anyone explain why its discontinuous (and really so in the second) through halftime? That seems like it cant have a reasonable explanation.

edit, oh wait, is that just stoppage time? Still, that second one cant be right for multiple reasons

Nah, I don't think it's about intelligence. He's plenty smart. That was clear when he was posting here long ago. And his political coverage and book were both great.

I think he struggles with the need for constant, short content. His best stuff has always been long-form. And there just isn't THAT much you can write about numbers every single day. If you try to do that, you're going to have sample size issues.

Disappointing. And although I haven't read as much 538 stuff as others ITT... man, it really seems like he made some bad hires. I like Mona Chalabi, but some of the other writers have been consistently horrible.

Well Nate is right in that the turf doesn't matter at all and will have precisely zero effects on the games.

They're keeping the project open, so let's see what they can recoup.

I went to deadspin to see their take, and instead find an article where they publish some creep's account of Jay Marriotta's texts on his train ride.

I mean, maybe I'd excuse this if the creeping broke something real (I caught a glimpse of Hilary's texts with Bill and it turns out Bin Laden lives in their pool house")... But id like to think if I edited deadspin, and someone emailed me "lol I spied on Marriotta and found out he likes ray Donovan" I'd tell that creep to shove it and never write again.

Deadspin is such Aids.

deadspin is alternately aids and awesome. you take the good with the bad.

and they do have an article up now

Agreed on deadspin, either real good or real bad/weird.

Also I ****ing love highly questionable. Would recommend to Dvr. Makes me laugh out loud nearly every day. It's more about entertainment value than sports analysis value but that's fine with me.

It's nice to keep a good balance of when it comes to this. Something you just need a little break from the Zach Lowes et al. of the world.

Whitlock has to be pushing 400 lbs right? I say this as a 300 lb fatty myself because you don't get to be 400 lbs without some serious issues going on. When I see him on TV, I'm thinking to myself "Damn, that dude looks seriously depressed." Just looks and seems miserable. So my question is, why on earth would the powers that be think it would be a good idea to put this guy in charge of this new website? Especially w/ all the baggage he has of being a dude on a power trip thinking he's the ****?

Basically, this was a train wreck from the beginning and LOL @ you if you couldn't see this coming.
