meh, it seems implied thats what he (BS) meant. If that was not what he intended, then no big deal really, but I am pretty skeptical of BS now tbh.

I actually thought about posting earlier that if there's anything more ridiculous than Simmons crediting himself it would be Jackson crediting him. Wtf.

Am I the only one who assumed when Simmons said "Jackson quoted me" he meant "Jackson quoted me by name", not "Jackson said this thing, and I also said it once, so I'm going to assume that, even though the opinion expressed is a popular one, he was not just referencing me, but *quoting* me"?

That's not really what I was saying though.

Whole thing is moot at this point now that we know PJ actually quoted Simmons by name (which I don't really feel bad for failing to assume this was the case).

I'll be honest, after a certain point I just glossed over the argument on the last page, but then I also assumed that Simmons isn't enough of a dullard to claim he was quoted if he wasn't.

I tweeted PJ that it's too bad Red and Pop will keep him from being remembered as the greatest coach OAT or of his era and he blocked me.

Exactly. BS had lunch w/ PJ and wrote about their lunch together and what they talked about. People are looking WAYYYYY much into this.

That simmons "destruction" is pretty much the definition of trying too hard.

hey mr destructo, we get it. You got an english degree.

mr. destructo probably does have too much time on his hands but i'm glad he does because i enjoyed reading his simmons piece.

Chise is right. Notice how Simmons says he "quoted an argument" not "directly quoted" not "quoted verbatim". The only reason this is remotely close is because Simmons is such a ****ty writer he might have messed up.

simmons is so overwhelmingly arrogant and self-centered that even if franchise is wrong, the conclusion he reached is still very reasonable. i mean based on what he's posted, i'm not sure t-god has ever actually read a bill simmons article.

There's a good chance Simmons is less arrogant than the posters criticizing him itt.

Yea sounds like there's a lot of petty jealousness towards Simmons. The dude writes about sports. He doesn't pretend to be Hemingway.

I can't take that destructo guy seriously after he wrote:

shocking

i honestly don't know how to respond to people claiming that simmons is not ridiculously self-centered and full of himself. if you find him entertaining, fine. but you might as well try to argue that water isn't wet.

edit: simmons fans who have actually read the entire big book of basketball: how much is actually about basketball? would calling it the big book of bill simmons make the title more or less accurate?

edit2: and while i may be arrogant, i'm not really self-centered. i think something like less than 1% of my posts are about me and stuff that happens in my life. otoh "sports" blogger bill simmons manages to talk about himself incessantly.

seriously.. i don't think there's anything in this world more arrogant than continually reading, listening, or watching something just to be able to point how terrible it is to prove how smart you are

i can't believe i'm getting called a cancer to 2+2 by the guy who spent a ton of posts trolling the main "oh **** the government just shut down internet poker thread" and then tried to defend himself by claiming that he was just being helpful

do you have any self-awareness at all?

that's a cool story bro but i haven't read anything by simmons in a very long time because he says incredibly stupid things about sports and he's an insufferable jackass while he's doing it.

tbh i could handle the arrogance and self-centeredness if he was so ****ing wrong all the time.

Yes, I do. And I have no clue who you're talking about. Carry on, though. If you're going to accuse people of having no self-awareness, at least try to keep who you're talking to straight, brah.
