I dunno. Simmons gets **** tons of requests to be on his show. If he thought Millman was useless, he'd stop having him on.

Gotta remember though, Simmons is a huge proponent of the unintentional comedy scale. Then again, he's also a gambling donk

+1

but i'd probably pick the latter theory as being correct here.

and speaking of Millman, am i crazy or on their March Madness preview podcast did he say something along the lines of, "when a game is too close to call, the sharps tend to pick the team with more or better pro prospects". really? i mean, is it proven that guys who are about to be drafted step up in the tournament?

also, does that mean that i'm a sharp then? cause that's something i might do, but i thought it was rather donkish & casualfan.

The woman competing to make an NBA team assertion is the single dumbest thing I've ever heard Simmons say. FFS THEY USE A DIFFERENT BALL IN THE WOMEN'S GAME!!

Listening now - This has to be the worst Simmons pod I've ever listened to. Klosterman loves to hear his own voice.

I'm listening to it now... they've been rambling on about college players and graduation, NBA eligibility, something, for like 20 mins now.

Oh my god. Just got to this part.

Steve Kerr mad disrespected. LoL @ any female player being 10% as athletic as him. "Anthony Marrow with breasts," hahaha. Skip to around 30 mins in to get to this part (maybe more like 32).

if women get a diff ball why don't they get a lower rim too, women are like 10% shorter so the rim should be 9ft

i would at least very occasionally watch wnba game if the rim were a decent amount lower. maybe. er maybe not but i would consider considering it.

I really like Klosterman's writing, but not about sports, and when I've heard him on Simmons he looks bad, but is still so much smarter than Simmons that he also makes him seem uncomfortably dumb.

Yeah this was definitely the worst Klosterman podcast they've done by far. It's funny that Simmons says that when the Women's team practiced with the Men's at Holy Cross they were surprised at how bad they were, but for some reason thinks only the women have improved since then.

A woman making an NBA team has no chance of happening, the game is just so different because of their lack of height. Maya Moore avg'd 8.2 RPG and she's only 6'0". Going into it I was thinking a woman would have to be more of a Lisa Leslie type, mixed with an amazing shooter, but then it turns out she's only 6'5" (I thought she was more like 6'9"). Leslie is also only 170lb so she's giving up 40lb to an average NBA player her same height. There's just no way a woman could possibly play on a men's team, saying anything otherwise is just a lack of physiological understanding.

When I first started listening, I thought you guys were exaggerating about the dumbness, but it really started to snowball. Simmons really needs someone to filter out his really dumb ideas. The women's basketball discussion was awful.

Also, lol @ Kloseterman's idea that you shouldn't take kids to things like basketball games, etc... and should just hang out with them in your house. Kids are ****ing stir-crazy, and will drive everyone nuts if you aren't out and about with them.

This.

I've read a little here and there from Klosterman and heard him on all of Simmons' podcasts and I don't see why so many people seem to love him.

Klosterman is a good writer and a good rhetorician. He will often take fragments of ideas and construct them into much larger arguments that he doesn't necessarily believe because it makes a much more compelling essay. The problem with him on Simmons podcasts is thinks Simmons is an expert and treats him with deference because of that. IME people aren't fans of him because he is smart, they read him because he has an interesting perspective and presents it well.

I occasionally think Klosterman is messing with Simmons when they talk non sports topics.
