football discussions are almost entirely awful across every platform, regardless of who is speaking.

Dameshek tho

From Cowherd's strawman playbook: @ESPNGreeny asks why cheering player injuries is bad but throwing beer on fans is okay. #WhoSaidItWasOkay?

Dave Dameshek ‏@Dameshek 13 Oct
On a planet with seven billion people, it's stunning and sad there aren't 32 guys who are good at being an NFL QB.

Dave Dameshek ‏@Dameshek 14 Oct
Disappointed by Colts/Chargers uniform matchup. Like an MLB roster in 1937, too much white.

(Not football but still)

"Yasiel Puig's joie de vivre is a great asset he must never lose. Dwight Howard's joie de vivre was a crude slap in Kobe's face" - LA media

His NFL.com pod is unbearable because of his co-hosts imo but Dameshek is the bee's knees, the cat's pajamas, and so on

Daves of Thunder was the GOAT pod

That Mike Trout interview was awkward. Anyone listen? He waxed poetic about subway for 3 minutes. There was a commercial in the middle of the interview between them

Yeah, it was a bad interview. I chalked it up to Trout being 22 and spewing a bunch of cliches.

Trout was on the DP show prior and the Subway plug was supposed to be an anecdote about how Subway was his fav as a kid and such and such was his fav sandwich but now his fav sandwich is whatever they are premiering this week. But he lost his way, even with Bill's softball setup, and just rambled on and on. Kind of hilarious.

Bill thinks the backup QB for the Texans is named Case Kellum. Come on dude.

I was laughing out loud on the train listening to it. Half the interview was about Subway or Simmons owning Trout in his keeper league.

Another great oral history about the '89 Earthquake Series. They knock these things out of the park every time, I don't think there's been even a mediocre one yet.

Eckersly drilling Canseco made me laugh.

Canseco: Did he hit me on purpose?

Henderson: LOL dumbass, he's walked 3 guys all year. What do you think?

grantland has been killing it lately IMO

anyone else listen to the grantland NFL podcast? it's hit or miss as far as Barnwell annoying me but on the whole it's pretty solid.

I do like Barnwell, but it's annoying when he over analyzes what Mays says, which I probably find annoying because I don't like when I do to people myself. example from today's ep. Mays was mentioning that he was never really a fan of Bradford (clearly in the Rams context) and Barnwell annoyingly brings up the Oklahoma days as a sort of prove-you-wrong tactic.

Honestly I feel obligated to listen just for it not being so casualfan.espn.
But ya for some reason it's just not as good as it should be. Can't quite put my finger on why. The 'adopt a team' segment is a nice idea but I came away wanting more from the Bills feature last week (maybe that's just 'cause they're my team).

Mays to me gives off the same vibe as Jack-O (which podcasts I stopped listening to years ago when he's been on) like he's always talking with a douchey s**t-eating grin on his face or something, IDK.
I like Barnwell a lot for the most part.
The preseason previews were better imo.

Agreed that the previews were better. I can't listen to the whole podcast with the current format. More times analyzing games/plays/personnel moves, less fluff.
Barnwell sounds like he's a ****ing blast to hang out with. Not.

Despise when he does this and it's a major character flaw.

Loving the NBA previews. Would like MLB previews with Keri but Simmons is incapable if doing them unless he is a pure host imo.

I like Jonah Keri, but they'd need someone with more personality. I don't think Grantland even has a Jalen Rose baseball equivelent, so they should get on that. actually, is he the only former pro on their staff?

also, it kinda pissed me off when i saw the write up for the most recent "Do You Like Prince Movies" podcast (which i never listen to anyway) and it said "With special guest Rembert Brown!" He's getting way too big a push. He's not worthy of an exclamation point!

Both the DYPM and Hollywood prospectus podcasts can be really bad. Whoever the guy is on DYLPM w/ pappademas is awful, and both podcasts have featured discussions of movies where one or both of the gasbags hadn't seen the movie in question but proceeded to yammer authoritatively about it anyway.
