But the National Football League devours phenomena. It grinds down any hint of the future into the undifferentiated powder of the present!

I wonder how Bill and Sal do on there bets overall. And if horrible like 90% of people, how they have the gall to still make confident plays and advice during their monday pod.

You remember the good runs and forget the bad ones, just like every other losing gambler.

I enjoy it, don't get me wrong. But when Simmons says something like "I hate teasing dogs on the road" I laugh inside.

they make it clear pretty much every week how terrible and casualfan their betting 'advice' is. they treat gambling for what it is, a super fun activity which costs money.

Problem is Bill is casual-fan in everything he does except for NBA where he thinks he isn't a casual fan but in reality he still kinda is.

there's an enormous spoiler for the wire in caps in the first paragraph of the new simmons article. that makes him an enormous dick imo.

god, i would give anything to be able to spoil him on the next few episodes of BB.

what's the statute of limitations on spoilers? that show has been over for a while, and that particular spoiler aired in 2004.

i mostly liked him framing that section as if he was one of the kool kats who was on to The Wire from the drop watching it on the initial run, when i'm almost certain he marathon'd it a couple years after the series ended.

Yeah seriously. Getting butthurt about spoilers is already way overdone, but getting butthurt about spoilers from ten ducking years ago is lol TURRIBLE.

OTOH, I would pay cash money to see BS get spoiled on the end of BB, that would be legit epic.

ya, that and he's been watching breaking bad for 4 months.

statute of limitations - i hear you, and if you stumbled across it in a more appropriate context it would be more excusable.

i just think the biggest sports writer in america putting maybe the biggest spoiler from the entire series in capital letters just to prove a point is pretty ****ing dumb. this isn't the usual suspects or the sixth sense - the wire is still a pretty niche show. i don't really understand why someone would go out of their way to spoil it for someone who didn't get around to watching it yet. no doubt there's countless people who have avoided all of simmons' bs on the wire up to this point, and quite possibly just got stung badly by that one.

yeah i agree that it wasn't totally necessary to make his point, but whatevs

he's the pro writer i guess

Well first they'll need to actually run more plays than anyone else. Then significantly more. Then we'll see.

He has a footnote about it that says 5 years is enough to no longer be a spoiler.

BTW, Darth Vader is Luke's father.

you'll find that the game where they built up a huge lead and then ran the clock down for 2 quarters is not representative of what is to come

why does he keep putting this idiot cousin sal on?

the cousin sal pods are by far the highlight of the BS Report. If the BS Report was nothing but a weekly guess the lines with JUST cousin sal, it'd be perfect.

Couple of thoughts on recent pods:

1. Simmons is bad at tv.
2. joe house is herpes. He's infecting all my favorite podcast guests. I might put a hit out on him.
