I hear that more NHL players smoke weed than NBA players. Is that a PED? Especially for goalies.

There is no way this is true.

The only sport that might have bigger potheads is golf.

Well said.

Ditto.

Klosterman basically said this on the latest podcast. I think a lot of football fans just assume PED (especially HGH) use is rampant in the NFL like steroid use was in baseball and don't seem to really care all that much about it.

convenient for simmons to write that article in/for the usa. then the day later a huge story came out in the AFL (aussie rules) about how some rogue sports science consultant was giving players banned substances without management or the players knowing. then a day after that, the australian crime commission says they have evidence of rampant drug use among AFL players, and will be pressing charges. ostensibly independent events lol. id imaging this will be a pretty huge story in aus sports, talking about illegal drugs like coke/pills just as much as peds

Might be because I've been reading a lot about narcissism lately, but i found Simmons' stance in the klosterman pod very off putting. Every beef he has with PEDs is with respect to how it affects him as a fan. "Watching bolt in the Olympics is one of the greatest experiences I've had. If I find out in 5 years that he took PEDs ill be devastated." oh boo hoo.

Then there's the fact he never considers that he really just doesn't know jack about the subject. Still harps on the bonds head size baloney. Can't fathom a guy like Kaep needing (or even really benefiting from) PEDs. What?

To his credit, he did lend credence that maybe PEDs aren't such a bad thing if they allow guys to heal more quickly.

At the end of the podcast he did at least admit he has a lot to learn. But if that's the case, you should state that upfront before you pontificate about all the evils of PEDs in sports.

The klosterman discussion about PEDs was interesting, but I found that both BS and CK were irritated by the arbitrary nature of PED rules to be somewhat weird. I mean we're talking about sports here, the games are by and large arbitrary to begin with, so I don't see what's so jarring about a few more arbitrary rules.

Simmons on podcast: "Kobe needs to come out and challenge the NBA/NBAPA to start blood testing for PEDs! It will cement his legacy!"
Kobe: "Dwight Howard needs to come back now and play so I can win another championship. (I don't care how he gets on the court *wink wink*)"

One other thing that bugged me, BS conflated PEDs and weed on a couple of occasions, and CK just went along with it.

Unless I'm missing something and there's a bunch of non-recreational performance enhancing qualities of weed (I gotta admit I've been out of the loop on weed for a number of years).

New BS Report with Ric Buecer and Marc Stein is an hour and 17 minutes of cluster****.
Terrible audio, delays, everyone talking over each other, and it sounds like one of the guests is at a Starbucks or some ****.

Prob the worst BS Report I've ever listened to.

C'mon Jacoby get in the game.

No one cares/would care if NFL players came out in droves. To paraphrase Louis C.K.'s line about single people: they could all come out as users and it actually wouldn't matter.

bucher literally ruins everything. I would love just a Marc Stein podcast. I enjoy Stein's work.

Heh, he probably thinks because kobe works hard he is less likely to be using PEDs. I'm sure Kobe has broken the rules somewhere along the line.

I'm bias against Bucher, but during the Rose discussion in that podcast, it sounds an awful lot like he just made up that he had a source telling him rose would be better off to sit out the year in order to not lose an argument. I mean, he's supposedly a journalist. I can't fathom his thought process here.

And boy is he bitter about Simmons tv gig.

Wasn't he redeemed a bit with the news coming out a day later? Rose said he isn't coming back until he's 110%, and I don't think he will be any time in the near future.
Sports Media Discussion (RIP ESPN) Quote

If he actually had a scoop regarding rose's health and waited 15 mins into the conversation to drop it, then that's lame. But actually just sounded like Simmons called him out, and instead of saying "well yeah I'm just speculating here its just my opinion" he sheepishly says he has info. If that's a lie its a complete breach of journalistic integrity.
