Schefty stuff doesn't seem that bad and I just assumed stuff like that happened all the time. We really supposed to leave journalists aren't mouth pieces for organizations/corporations?

I thought it was common knowledge that this is how these newsbreakers operated. Go read some tweets from Woj during NBA free agency - they either read like an advertisement for the sports agency representing the player, or an advertisement for the player themself.

There was also a podcast with Jackie MacMullan (was a BS pod) where she explained that most of the players/agents now request some sort of control / spin on the subsequent article that would be written if they got interviewed. I believe she said it was a more recent development, and definitely had a negative impact on the journalism aspect of the industry.

Schefter story is a huge yawn

I think it's the fact that Snyder was a source for the story Schefter wrote as opposed to getting a tip on a breaking story.

Some are calling it unethical - and he has admitted he was wrong.

LOL Espn journalism. They are a corporate partner. Have been for a long time. As far back as MLB and steroids.

The Nhl got frozen out of ESPN because they weren't a partner. Bettman is making jokes about it now that the Nhl is back in the family.

The Athletic is demonstrating how much the leagues have controlled the media.

Spoiler:

The absolute most charitable reading of events is that Portnoy brings over women who are barely out of high school so that he can have degrading sex with them while filming the encounter without warning or permission.

It’s like 50/50 this helps his rep.

“One choke. Everybody knows the rules” was a pretty solid comment making the rounds.

ESPN is the worst. Sjwers, show WNBA highlights instead of mls highlights. Don’t lead the night with USMNT wc win over Mexico. Don’t watch much anymore.

Those of you who subscribe to The Atheltic is there a way to access their front page from a browser? It is a tab at the bottom of the app but I don't see it in the web browser and it only gives me my custom list. I realize I could just no follow any teams or authors but there has to be a way to access the front page and still keep my favorites no?

Bill Simmons apologising for doing two pods about Kevin Durant trades without realising the rookie extensions rule made most of them illegal and then proposing a KD for Trae Young trade which is also illegal for the exact same reason 14 seconds later is absolutely incredible

I actually never heard Mad Dog before he came to ESPN, and I thought he was just a talk radio loudmouth, but he does make pretty good arguments and debates pretty well. His latest tirade on Durant is spot on.

I wasn't a fan of him but he was the ultimate company man for 20+ years. They reassigned him countless times, had to endure Stephen A. Smith for years and now they replace him with Pat McAfee.

How is Kendrick Perkins not on this list? The only reason I can come up with is that it's because he doesn't like white people.

I liked him, he was the original host of Around the Horn and jumped ship to Fox tho.

Pretty shocked about McShay. Draft coverage was profitable for them w/ insatiable demand, I thought.

Salary? They have to keep some people and I'm assuming he doesn't make as much as others that got cut.
