Agreed that the show peaked ~5 years ago, but I still find it entertaining and listen to it daily (usually the local hour and best of). I'm not sure anybody in the shipping container would be good on their own, but they are decent as a whole. Local hour can lag at times, but usually entertained with random skits (Pipo is funny, Roy's Realm meh).

Hoch was hilarious though. I'll never forget the parody song after they lost to the Browns one year. Hoch sang Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop The Music", inserting Mohamed Massaquoi's name in the chorus at the end since he had the game-winning TD. Still makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Since this thread is up today...is there such thing as a Mike Golic JR fan? (I think that's his name - Golic's son.) That guy at some point in every conversation he's in will go on a 60-70 second diatribe that is eyelid drooping boring and repetitive to make some uninteresting point. It really is noticeable - typical conversations go back and forth in like 15-20 seconds exchanges - and JR does this until he goes for his marathon response.

No one named Golic should be involved in broadcasting. Mike and JR are both terribad but go find some old tape on Bob Golic if you're bored and want to really hear some truly awful commentary hoo boy

This is one my first listens on my library. Really really like the pod. This is embarrassing to already be done. My theory is either they got paid or bill spoiled the **** out of the movie a few weeks ago and they just dismissed it like it was no big deal so they did this one to save face. It was really frustrating because i haven’t seen the movie and he gives a MASSIVE spoiler for no reason and then doubles down on it. It easily could have been edited out. If you’ve seen the movie he gives THAT spoiler.

Man I love hate listening to Simmons.

During a Hulu ad read he mentioned how his son sneaks off and watches Big Mouth, a Netflix show.

It's hilarious that not even russillo has the balls to point out to Simmons that kyrie is only in Boston because he demanded a trade with two years left on his contract

It is insane that they could not even get to twenty movies before they just started doing nonsense. I am guessing eight of the last ten rewatchables are in fact not rewatchsble.

Plus it is a huge Simmons steam roll where his lackeys NEVER stand up to him at all and support his stupid ideas at every turn. Whatever Simmons says is the best line in a movie they gargle in agreement.

Rewatchables should be entitled unlistenables.

Recent movies were Dave and Proof of Life. So my 8 out of 10 is hyperbole but the other two are a Star is Born, as you mentioned, and The Warriors. The Warriors is the only one of those movies that us rewatchable by any measure. Dave is a decent movie but if it comes on nobody is going “Oh great this part of Dave is coming up.”

Going back through the total list probably 35%-40% of the movies do not belong there. I went through the whole list right now and could dismiss 13 of the movies they have done as having no business on that list. And that is with me straining extra hard to realize my tastes are not everyone’s tastes and realizing when a sizable number of others find a movie rewatchable. You Got Mail is not in any way shape or form rewatchable to me. I don’t want to see any of it, but I realize there is a significant audience for whom that movie absolutely is rewatchable, so it should be there. But then a movie that is in my wheel house, like Michael Clayton, which I really enjoyed and like, is on the list and I am like no. No no no one thousand times no. It should not be on such a list. It’s got to be more than movies Bill Simmons himself likes or the two females he let’s talk like.

Enough with the rant. With a Star is Born there has to be a minimum time a mo ie has to have been out before it can even be considered. I don’t care what time limit it is though, because a Star is Born should never be listed as a rewatchable movie.

It’s not like there are slim pickings of movies to select either, so basically it is just a bill Simmons masturbatorium.

I just can't disagree with this more. Rewatchables is fantastic, and I think they're up to 60 now, so I'm not sure what your 20 movies comment relates to. In terms of the substance, I disagree that it's a Simmons-fest. One of the things I like most about it is that other people definitely argue with Simmons, especially Sean Fennessey and Shea Serrano. The Godfather episode was an example of the co-hosts just mocking Simmons mercilessly. (Shea Serrano is my MVP of the podcast. I had no idea who he was, and now I'm listening to his Villians podcast and looking forward to reading his books.)

I mean, taste is taste, so whatever. I've just been enjoying this podcast so much recently that I'm stunned by your comment because my experience is so completely different from yours.

They just announced that the next Rewatchables is FLETCH, so just LOL at the haters. Can't wait.

Also seems like I may be optimizing my Serrano experience by focusing on podcasts rather than Ringer columns.

The actual worst. I watched like 10 minutes of some live NBA preview they did one year and this dude was cringe after cringe and stoodout amongst an extremely cringe panel of RINGER staff. Horrific

4. Tate, House
5. Shea Sarrano

Shea being popular will never make sense to me.
