Former ESPN president had to resign due to a cocaine extortion plot

https://nypost.com/2018/03/15/espn-p...xtortion-plot/

Quote:
John Skipper was forced to resign at ESPN after he was extorted by a person he bought cocaine from, the ex-network president revealed in a bombshell interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

Skipper’s departure from ESPN in December sent shockwaves through the industry, and the abrupt nature of it is now clear.

“They threatened me, and I understood immediately that threat put me and my family at risk, and this exposure would put my professional life at risk as well,” Skipper told the magazine. “I foreclosed that possibility by disclosing the details to my family, and then when I discussed it with [Disney CEO] Bob [Iger], he and I agreed that I had placed the company in an untenable position and as a result, I should resign.”

Skipper said he had always been cautious about his drug use, but “not this time. It turned out I wasn’t careful this time.”

Skipper said he had never done cocaine at work at ESPN and only had used infrequently over the past 20 years, with it never affecting his work performance. ESPN announced earlier this month that Disney exec Jimmy Pitaro would replace Skipper.

Now it makes much more sense why Levitz was sobbing and saying he was fearful for him.

Is doing coke in your free time really that big a deal and a fireable offense? Walt Disney himself was a cokehead. I mean "Snow White", come on bros.

I was listening to a podcast. It wasn't even a sports podcast. But they started talking about running backs for some reason. The host pointed out that the 5 top running backs of all time (by yards) were not the biggest guys and weren't the fastest guys on the field. He then put out his thesis--force equals mass times acceleration. "If you are too big or too fast, you experience too much force." That's too much of a good thing. You just need to generate enough force to get through a tackle.

I have no idea what his point was or why he thought it was so profound.

Lol

Trick is to run at constant velocity (i.e. never get hit) - so your acceleration is zero! Thus, force equals zero!

Amazing. It just made too much sense for both parties.

I used to think he was an idiot but I have really enjoyed him on Simmons' podcast.

Never seen someone steam up their glasses as much as Lebatard does since he started wearing them. It's like his eyes have their own marine layer.

Speaking of Simmons podcast...

On one of his last episodes he tried to dissect the supposed Belichick/Brady/Kraft feud and couldn't seem to wrap his head around the idea that Kraft would meddle with Bill's plans after almost two decades of letting Bill be Bill. Do all Boston sports fans think this? As an outsider, it's pretty obvious to see that Kraft has gotten more out of this team than he ever could have imagined when he first bought it. He's in his late 70's and his wife has already passed on. I don't think he gives a **** about Bill's plan for the next five years--he'll be dead by then. He's had more than enough winning to make up for any down years in the future. I think he just wants to make sure that Tom gives a great eulogy at his funeral and speaks glowingly of him for the next 30 years.

Francesca GOAT.

Best part is he completely overplayed his hand and cucked the FAN so hard who had no choice to bring him back because the show they replaced him with is the worst thing to ever be on radio.

But he always talked how he could revolutionize the podcast industry and show everyone how to make money on it etc... just like when he was hyping up the Road Show ap which might have been revolutionary in 1985. He's delusional but will always get ratings in N.Y. Reading between the lines it's obvious no one else wanted him

He's got a pretty hatable face but I've really come to like Joel Klatt. I'm Canadian so I've never seen him call a college football game, but his analysis of draft prospects is really good.

Not sure why they ever fired Ethan. Guess it's cheaper to pay someone in OKC. Also this is great:
