Bill Simmons is currently running a chat on ESPN. Someone sent him a message pretending to be Josh Freeman b/c Bill has a hard-on for him. Here's how Bill responded:

"JAAAAAAAAAAAASH FREEMAN! BTW - why is he never mentioned in the MVP discussions? The Bucs are 7-3, San Diego is 5-5, but Phil Rivers is more valuable????"

I used to hate BS but now I pretty consistently listen to his podcasts since I think he's got some pretty funny angles sometimes. His most recent one though is pretty homerific-armchair-QB-ish when he's talking to Aaron Schatz from FO and refuses to anoint Rivers as the top MVP candidate at this point.

I listened to that podcast, Simmons is such a weird guy. he is really inconsistent in his use of stats.sometimes they are useless, sometimes great

Did anyone ask him if he reads TZ

would have to more subtle than outright asking him. gotta lead him on in some way where he reveals knowledge of a tz meme or idea.

can someone cliff me whats up with Simmons and tz? does he steal stuff from there or something?

cliffs: there's some evidence to suggest he does read it, content crossover, but it's probably pretty unlikely

Right, because if the answer is ambiguous enough TZers can convince themselves it's evidence.

tz is impenetrable for regular SE posters like me, I can't imagine an outsider like Simmons trying to digest it

Bill Simmons read a Bobbo post which consisted of him multi quoting 10 people from 5 pages earlier. That ended the experience for him.

agree that its mostly a caricature of itself at this point. cant be easy to wade thru the levels and inside jokes and bobboisms to find morsels of content.

considering his job he's probably got the time to do it

yeah, it's funny to go from completely praising Felix Hernandez getting the Cy Young to completely discounting Rivers' season.

I do like to listen to his shows though. I'd take Simmons over any other ESPN personality any day.

I listen to TK's radio show also. He's possibly the most self-centered human being. He acts like he realizes it and it's just his shtick, but from what I read/hear, he truly is a very vile person.

His radio show is pretty funny, though. Plus, you get to listen to them talk confidently about things they have no clue about, which leads to more hilarity. He truly is out of touch with normal people.
