Saoirse Ronan has been one of my long term picks to someday win an Oscar, since The Lovely Bones. Closing in on that one coming true.

I have to rewatch get out. Apparently lots of cool stuff you pick up on rewatches.

Literally haven't heard of the rest of the best pic noms, so get out gets my vote.

Blade Runner should win the cinematography award and the block rockin beats award.

3 Billboards being nominated for any non-acting awards is just mystifying.

The script is full of lazy writing that doesn't hold up to basic critical thought.

Spoiler:

1) The new police chief witnesses an officer throwing a man out of a window and beating him in the street. No arrest.

2) The prime arson suspect with motive is detained outside the burning police station, flimsy alibi is believed instantly, no further investigation.

3) A man comes in to the gift shop and all but confesses, and is subsequently overheard bragging about it in the bar, only to be lazily hand waived away as definitely not the killer later.

4) A badly burned and disfigured man instantly forgives the person who burned him.

It's gonna be pretty awesome when they act all righteous about James Franco and other actors not being nominated due to character. Then Kobe wins his category.

Get Out was a good movie but lol at it being Oscar worthy.

Feel the same way about Dunkirk.

I refuse to believe The Shape of Water is a good movie based on the trailer I saw.

If you don't care whether the screenplay sucks or not, it's a great film.

As someone who does, it gets a thumbs down from me and an LOL for getting a nom in that category.

I was excited to see 3 Billboards, and it ended up being total aids. Laughably bad.

Some other stuff:

Spoiler:

-backwoods moron sheriff in a dirt poor town in missouri is married to a beautiful, educated british woman; they picnic and drink chardonnay on weekends

-all the black people were extremely woke and soulful, again, in dirt poor backwoods missouri

-peter dinklage was in this movie (????)

-the deplorable cop who did countless depraved, awful, racist things had an awakening, but it was just that he should do better case work as a police officer and he redeemed himself. Had nothing to do with him being an evil racist and it was never addressed.

Pish posh.

The sound editing and cinematography were incredible. I haven’t seen any of the other movies this year, but it had some of the best of both I’ve ever seen.

Blade Runner should win most of the technical awards. Wind River should have been a best picture or at least best screenplay nom.

It’s 50% because people have been trained from an early age to ask permission for the most basic and fundamental needs. I realized how stupid this was when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. I was raising my hand to ask for permission to go to the bathroom and the teacher told me I had to wait. I got up and went anyway and it was a huge ordeal with my mom having to come in to see the principal. Even as an 8 year old or whatever, I knew it was ridiculous to have to ask permission to take a ****, so I got up and took a ****.

Other 50% is just people making horrible life decisions and getting married and having 5 kids and a mortgage payment so they are forced to live like slaves. I see it in their eyes every day, these people are completely dead inside.

Meh he's right if we're taking 25-45 year old first world country people. It must be great having your one night out a year being little Neveah's Christmas concert while you sit there staring at Jackson's mom in yoga pants, secretly wishing you were motorboating her instead of working 55 hours a week at a **** job in Des Moines to pay for a 5 bedroom house you don't even want because you're a cuck that's already given up.
