I like the Mazda3 hatch. Def in the running for my next car.

If you're looking in that class range, buying seems like a good plan. Very reliable and they'll last you a long long time. If you're an upgrade whore then leasing sounds better.

Just bought a 2015 Explorer XLT with 15k miles on it. Currently lease an Escape but will probably go Fusion or Taurus when this lease is up

Having a new couch delivered tonight. Dude delivering it just called me to set up the time: 8:00 PM. He's also able to take an old rug I need to dispose of, because he's "heading to the dump later this evening."

So, obviously, if I happen to join bowens this evening it's been nice knowing you, bros.

So, wandered over to OOT for the first time in awhile. Any regs have cliffs on the MLYLT trainwreck? Is it worth me going through her log thread, or is the stuff from yesterday/today enough?

Seems like the deal of a lifetime compared to buying it and selling it for 20k if you are lucky 2 years later.
If you shop carefully and aren't locked on to one particular model before you look, leasing can be a great deal. It's all about finding a model that has the right set of incentives, a high residual and a low money factor (interest rate). The leasehackr site has a reasonably active forum and they post some pretty stellar deals from time to time.

Don't put money down on a lease if you can possibly avoid it.

spouse and i bought a new portland lesbian special subaru for her almost 10 years ago at 0.9% financing, and we bought a new toyota rav4 over 5 years ago also at 0.9% financing. awd, air bags, ac and heated seats were the primary reason.
both cars are currently paid for and to date have only required standard maintenance expenses (knock on wood). the lezbaru has over 150k miles on it right now and were considering purchasing another one mainly for the more modern tech. would def buy either a subaru or toyota again.

My dad sold his standard-issue Outback last year when he got the retirement special truck and two weeks ago he got a letter in the mail from Portland Police. It was a speeding warning with a picture of a fat, Middle-Eastern (he's neither) dude barreling down SE Division well over the limit apparently. Great picture too, the guy has his tongue lolling out and looks like he's jerking off. Anyway, I think he's still trying to get that figured out with the DMV.

EDIT: There is zero evidence to suggest this, yet I choose to believe the guy was blasting this song when the picture was taken

I think most new s classes are leased and then when they are done they have depreciated a ton and people are scared off by their potential maintenance costs. (Tons of electronics/gadgets that can potentially break + all other engine and normal car things)

Also does depend on the model run and year.

Really happy Mazda 3 hatch owner here. Considering getting another one.

Rocking a 2009 Audi A4 that I bought straight cash homey after shipping the Sunday Million back in Summer of 09. Only got like 65k miles on it because I just don't drive anywhere. Am considering leasing if I need a new car but that's hopefully a few years away still.

The maintenance costs are indeed brutal, seems like everything is 1-2k

I have an older model and not sure how the new ones are holding up but i have to imagine the ride quality is worth the extra costs. I've had four cars over my lifetime - a Mitsubishi, a Cadillac a jaguar and the benz and I'm pretty comfortable saying that the jag/cad were closer to the pos Mitsubishi than the benz. Only other make I would really consider getting is an Audi

Can't wait till automatic cars become mandatory. Not for anything car buying/leasing related, but because of the "how much should I tip my driverless Lyft" arguments on here.

On the topic of cars is it me or does every foreign SUV/truck look like garbage? I've always preferred the boxier look of Cherokees, Yukons, range rovers, explorers (until recently where they added that cheap looking plastic grill) etc

Seems like all the foreign ones are too round/spaceshipy

It's not certain that the people who get it working will let you buy one rather than just extracting rent from you perpetually.
