Impressed with Apple's service. Sent my Ipod Nano, that I accidentally destroyed with water damage, to them last Friday. Just got a replacement ipod this morning. Less than a week for a replacement. And, hell, even though it was under warranty I didn't think they would replace it because of the water damage(I know phone companies don't replace phones with water damage).
That guy hasn't been relevant for years and is already known by the people who matter, but I'm sure a couple "likes" are all that was needed to gogetem.
The OOT thread on this is pretty good and goes into some details about why the video/organization may be somewhat misguided.
Not going to bother reading it tbh. If the net result of their actions makes people aware of him and eventually leads to his arrest then its worth it imo.
ya, nevermind that countries have already spent a couple years trying to arrest/kill kony, now that george clooney and taylor swift spoke in a youtube video, you can help bring him to justice by clicking like!

being indicted for war crimes by the ICC in 2005 is nothing compared to a retweet by lady gage
The thing that annoys me about all these people being like zomg only 31% or whatever of their finances go directly to Africa is that nobody seems to be willing to admit that money spent on video production or travel costs to lobby politicians has resulted in actions that are in line with the aims of the organization and can easily be considered as money spend that resulted in aid. The discussion about arming and being tied to the Ugandan army is far more interesting and debatable than their finances.
Also huge lol at being up in arms over paying the guy 90k who is the main director/producer of all production in an organization that places a huge emphasis on videos. That's not a lot of money for a position like that at all and he could easily make more than that working for a private production company, especially now.
And yes Lady Gaga tweeting will probably do more than the ICC.
The kony people seem pretty damn savy imo. They realize if you have a cause you believe strongly in, that in order to get change, getting massive exposure and attention is the best way, and they are doing that with some really effective ways.
Seems weird that people can be so cynical about it, but its the internet I guess.
On the one hand I feel like there are legitimate reasons to be cynical about click-a-link-sign-a-petition slacktivism, on the other hand I also feel a lot of hostility comes from people who don't want to be reminded that there's a ****ty world out there and don't want to feel any obligation to make it better.

They seem pretty up front that their goal is raising awareness and applying public pressure on politicians and policy makers, and they are using effective means to do so imo.
