The bounty system is despicable and the whole situation has made me ill.

I did like whoever had the idea of trading Brees for someone's entire draft, signing Peyton, signing Moss, profiting. Would never happen, but God how furious would Goodell be if that worked out.

An outrageous accusation. I'm only an authority on 70%, 75% of the interwebs, tops.

Not that 2p2 se really reps the average us fan, but I bet most reg NFL fans couldn't care less about the bounty system. Most NFL fans are total donks. People here by and large probably dislike it a fair amount because I think most NFL fans here like the NFL for other reasons than big hits to fap over.

OTOH, is $1000 per hit (when you get the same for Ints/FR) really a behavior changing incentive considering you get dinged 25x that or more for "dirty" hits.

It blows my mind that there are kegs for 19-24 year olds or w/e that DON'T charge for a cup. Only way you ever didn't pay 5 around here is if you were good friends with the owner of the house and/or keg.

Any interest in a "most lopsided trade in sports history" discussion/poll? It would HAVE to be broken down by sport because it's too apples/oranges to compare sports and will lead to people debating across multiple sports which usually sucks. As for topic, it would make sense to include the big four US sports + soc.cer. It would go nominations --> vote.

The problem is that it seems too narrow to do one sport at a time yet probably not broad enough to create five different threads (one at a time obv).

Also, the trade would have to have a minimum age, like at least two years ago, maybe longer.

It may not be compelling enough to bother with.

Obviously it shouldn't be, but players are dumb. It was probably intended to be a motivational system to just play and hit hard at all times, but when you get things like the Favre game happening it clearly went beyond that. I mean football culture is all about being a man and beasting on people, but you're already getting paid for that implicitly. No need to monetarily reward players for the nastier aspects of the game.

I think that would be very interesting but a lot of the onus is going to be on the OPs here.

Yup pretty surprised as well unless it was a frat party.

My buddy was in one and I went to tons of parties. They never had kegs, I think they either got in trouble or it was a rule at uw. But they always had beer and the mixed drinks were free for the hos.

holy christ that was amazing

recap:

Quote:
Williams was selected as the fifth pick of the 1999 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Mike Ditka traded all of the Saints' 1999 draft picks to get Williams, as well as a 1st and 3rd pick the following year. This was the first time one player was the only draft pick of an NFL team. Williams and Ditka posed for the cover of ESPN The Magazine as a bride and a groom with the heading "For Better or for Worse." Master P's (a.k.a. Percy Miller's) organization "No Limit Sports" negotiated his contract, which was largely incentive-laden; he received an $8M-plus signing bonus with salary incentives potentially worth from $11 million to $68 million should he hit all of his incentives, with most of them requiring higher than top-level production to attain.[4] The contract was criticized by legions of people, both sports agents and writers, who realized that Williams' position entitled him to much more in guaranteed money.[5] Williams later fired "No Limit Sports" and made Leigh Steinberg his agent. Ditka was later fired for the team's poor performance.
also AJ for liriano/nathan/bosner was well on it's way til liriano and nathan blew out their elbows
