I usually spent like $200 on booze for a party, total was probably $500-600 for the 3 of us in the house. No lol charging for cups and people would bring booze as well since it was usually birthday parties and ****. Usually threw 1-2 parties a semester so they were always pretty damn big.

Saturday night was the only night we could booze. And if you we a freshman you weren't allowed at all in season. Sunday was film and workout in the afternoon, needless to say it was pretty rough for a few guys. Monday was the day off, so there were obviously a few guys that took advantage of that and went against team rules and boozed on Sunday's as well.

As the parties being broken up, I rarely remember any parties outside of frat parties being broken up at Kutztown. The only time we had issue was with our afterparties after the bar that were going til 4 in the morning. But it wasn't cops but rather our drunk neighbors asking us to cool it. With that though, we did have the GOAT locations for our football house. It's possible that we got special treatment, I didn't venture onto many different parties outside of the football parties, but I think Kutztown was just lenient as hell and just really gave out a ton of parking and speeding tickets.

Wish we could afford to throw 200 dollars down, but we couldn't. Trust me, we woulda been ecstatic to not charge but it just wasn't possible if we wanted to have parties.

Charging was standard at the larger, impersonal parties. Obviously if everyone knew one another, they didn't charge.

I lived in a frat house my senior year. No charging for smaller happy hours, since it was only 1 keg. It was $5 for the huge parties we'd throw, but we'd be getting like 10 kegs and a **** ton of booze.

Ya, five dollars a person is pretty standard. Though like dude said if you have like 10 people over and everyone's friends, then it's different. We were lucky to have a house that had a separate entrance to the basement. So for small get togethers we'd just play beer pong in the house or something, then for big parties everyone would be in the basement and didn't have access to the house.

There's just so much money, effort and time that goes into throwing a big banger than not charging seems absurd. Before hand you have to clean up, at least somewhat. Then you have to but the beer, hard liquor, and set it all up. You have to get stuff to play music if you don't already have it. Then for the party usually everyone had a job. two people would be at the front collecting money, one person would be handing out cups, another would be dispensing the beer, and then everyone collectively was responsible for security. Luckily our girlfriends make jello shots, would dress slutty, dance on top of the tables/bars, and sell regular shots to people, so we didn't have to take care of that. Then obviously you have to get everyone out, which goes smoothly most of the time, but other times there are issues. then you have to clean up the next day, which can be brutal after a massive banger.

lastly the people who throw the party also are taking an inherent risk since they get most of the heat, if it gets busted. Basically lol at not charging, unless it's a really small get together to play beer pong or something.

Also , like schu said, it's pretty fair for the student as well. Being a 19 yr old that has to have someone buy liquor for them, five dollars a cup to get many beers is a good deal. That's not even mentioning taking everything above into consideration. I paid five dollars at tons of parties, and felt good about it.

We probably were around ~300 for party costs (beyond drinks, we'd tarp up the walls and floor on the main level of the house, and would throw a couple of our larger friends* $20 or so to work the door). Usually a couple kegs and one big spoodee. I think we brought in roughly $400 each party. We were kinda stupid/good at it thought. We'd make up flyers and distribute them at bars, and 2 of the guys living there did mobile DJ work, so we'd have a live DJ with lights and smoke machines and stuff. (my main job was to be very white and agreeable when the cops showed up, and it worked, every party got busted, we never got in a lick of trouble)

*- one was a hockey player who had a video of all his fights that we left looped on a TV during the party.

It's funny too. Nowadays to rent out bars(mostly in NYC so probably cheaper elsewhere) costs about 50-60 a head for only 3-4 hours of drinks. I miss college.

At friends' parties that swell into the 30+ people most people I knew usually took donations to help recoup cost/latent expense and usually people donated around 5 bucks anyway.

I guess across the pond is different because of the legal drinking age but if it ever happened over here it would result in a riot. I find this all rather hilarious.

seriously. if you are renting out a club or something at 30 bucks a head then I get it, but lolllllllllll at collecting five bucks from people as they come in. this is literally unheard of for me but now i know how the gdis made it thru college.

We had about 60 brothers in the frat and would each throw in $20 for a massive banger that we would host once a month. The frat house was essentially a mansion of sorts and we had a lot of room to work with for the parties, so we would routinely field a turnout between ~400-500 people per party

We usually had a working budget of about $1,200 per party and we would allocate the funds as follows
-$200 for a DJ who would bring a nice audio system, strobe lights, and the like
-$700 for about 12 kegs (usually Keystone)
-$300 for 10 handles of Everclear, which we would mix with Fruit Punch, 7-Up, Lemonade and Orange Juice to make Jungle Juice, which we served out of coolers

When we did it we just didn't let you in without paying, so there was no monkeying with cups. One of our idiot roommates turned away Marques Tuiasosopo because he didn't have money on him (Marques apparently didn't even drink and holy **** that was ******ed, especially seeing as how the guy who did it was trying to get into sports journalism).

Very standard for parties at UW. I'd say the bulk of parties where somebody had a keg there was a charge. (note that these are not frat parties, dunno what they did in the Greek system beyond typically not let non-greek dudes into those parties).
