Something bothers me about the nearly entire list being Frat Pack or Apatow House movies (and the ones that aren't are pretty mediocre), but I can't put my finger on what's missing.

The Hangover is so overrated imo.

In The Loop might actually be the funniest I've seen the last few years but it's not that well known.

It shouldn't be anywhere near a list of best anything, unless it's "Best way to **** on the memory of your best film and prove once and for all you're a hack who got lucky".

I remember posting this in OOT, but what's the deal with Superbad? I've seen it here and elsewhere near the top of a lot of favorite-comedy lists and I didn't find it funny at all.

It goes well beyond thinking it's overrated - I laughed a bit at McLovin's awful fake ID, which was in the previews, chuckled a few other times and that's it. It took me two sittings to get through because I was bored and turned it off the first time. I went back to it thinking it would get better but it never did. I don't think I'm the smartest guy in the world, but I really doubt it's because the humor is all going over my head.

It's not like I'm too conservative or sophisticated for it. I like just about all the non-Rogen comedies that it gets lumped in with - The Hangover, Anchorman (yeah, he had a cameo), Dodgeball, Zoolander, Old School, Wedding Crashers etc. For Rogen movies, I was pleasantly surprised by Funny People, which also has Jonah Hill from Superbad. 40 Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Zach and Miri Make a Porno I thought were all meh but at least had a couple funny parts. I can see the appeal even if I didn't like them all that much, which is not the case with Superbad.

i've only watched superbad once, so maybe it really does lose its re-watch-ability and i am just not aware of it. i went into the movie with little expectation, and pretty much rofl-ed for 3/4 of it. the ending is a bit slow, which is fine with me since i was laughing non-stop for the first hour and a half.

but good call on borat. i forgot about that and would probably rate it higher. however, i was simply too shocked and exhausted to laugh for the last 30 minutes.

anchorman is great and has great re-watch-ability. didn't want to take anything away from it.

40yo virgin/dodgeball/zoolander/old school/zach and miri were good/ok, funny people/knocked up/wedding crashers sucked. i did not like hangover at all.

I think I'd go with something like Anchorman > Harold and Kumar > Super Troopers > Old School/FSM/Hangover/Grandma's Boy

Yeah I need to check out The Thick of It. Weren't like half the characters in the movie just adapted from the series?

Was looking at the In the Loop memorable quotes section of IMDB and just that was making me lol pretty hard. So many good one liners.

I like both of these movies, and I'd even say I love LMS. I don't consider them the same genre as the films being discussed though.

I know, I'm just throwing out random movies obv. A lot of the raunchier R comedies from the last decade blend together too much for me, especially since all of them seem to share at least 75% of the cast with each other.
