That's my point. Safer waiting and going to Royal Ascot where you get to see both Frankel and Black Caviar.

Na, it should be a pretty sick experience over there at that meeting. I think Black Caviar is heading that way as well.

You use a very strange size of printer paper

paintings like a little over twice as big as a sheet of paper

its still small and i dont see what all the fuss is about when there are huge really cool paintings of battles and stuff

cool yes but not 4 million dollars cool. There is some really good art out there but the way random pieces get massively inflated in price and reputation i will never understand

agreed; i would be much more into it if it were done by 'student-artisans' and was given away for free

Exit Through the Gift Shop was a pretty interesting exercise in art hype. It was pretty hilarious how people were duped into buying in to a hot new artist and the resulting price inflation on his seemingly amateurish pieces. Very "emperor has no clothes" kind of stuff.

Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at - my sister spent a year in Spain and said "for me, I liked other areas more, but for you - Barcelona is far and away the best choice". Wife prefers Paris for the way back (I'm a total food/wine guy so that would likely be my pref too) but we have two different couples we know who will be in London at the same time so I think London is a pretty big favorite for the way back.

It's not a random piece. It's an 80 foot picture printed on glass by one of, if not the most famous photographers in the world.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, and Forum Discussion

Weird, I was in a conversation about travel in Europe in the last day or two and Barcelona was also cited at the best tourist city by a couple of different people.

Not by me, never been there and quite frankly don't GAF if I ever go. Maybe for a British Open or Ryder Cup though.

My apologies for not making it perfectly clear I was referring to the whole of Europe and not just Barthelona.
